Alan “Joe” Olendorff
Alan Joseph Olendorff, devoted husband and father of three children, passed away on August 7, 2019, at the age of 62. Alan, formally known as Joe by beloved family and friends, was born on August 4, 1957, in St. Peters, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ruth Olendorff.
After high school, Joe completed a carpentry program through the Union and worked at various places, including Washington University, where he met his wife of 20 years. Joe is survived by his wife, Ann Olendorff and three children, Jake Olendorff (37) and wife Ashley, Kayla Haynes (30) and husband Aaron, and Alex Olendorff (19). Joe is also survived by his brother Terry Olendorff and wife Tammy, his brother Steve Olendorff and wife Mary, his sister Donna Hirtz and husband Gordon, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Ava Olendorff (4), Olivia Haynes (3), and Owen Haynes (1).
Joe will be cremated after a final private family viewing. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 13 from 2:00-5:00 pm at St. Louis Cremation, located at 2135 Chouteau Ave, St. Louis, MO 63103.
Flowers may be sent to the St. Louis Cremation Center (2135 Chouteau Ave, St. Louis, MO 63103) or donations may be made to the National Resources Defense Council, in memory of Joe Olendorff. Joe always believed the world’s children should inherit a planet that will sustain them as it has sustained us. I’m so sorry for your loss. Remember the good times we had in college like crossing the bridges back and forth to Columbia.
Ann, you are in our hearts and minds during this difficult time. Carlos and I were remembering the water heater incident just the other day and wondering what it might be next time! We’ll certainly miss spending time with the 2 of you. But know we’re here for you for anything you might need.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and all of the family. We will always have the memories of meeting at the South East conference room (Magee’s) back in the day when we were all young and invincible. We will remember Joe as a very caring man with a wonderful sense of humor, he will be missed by all.

A few days ago, we shook Joe’s hand and talked to him at Owen’s birthday party. What a shocker to hear the news of his passing. I know you and the family are deeply sorrowed. May your Faith keep you strong and may you be strengthend with many happy memories. Sorrow and recovery is normal and takes time to heal and move onward. His Spirit, as well as God’s Spirit, is with you all.

We’re so sorry for your loss. We’ll always remember how he seemed to love cutting the grass on his riding-mower. Also how he’d help Alex decorate the outside of the house for Halloween. Always friendly.
