William Soney Parker
How do you say goodbye to someone you love?
On May 28, 2021, my father, William Parker, Jr.
Aka Soney or Sonny Boy, made his final exit from this earth and entered into the Heavenly realms from his birthplace of St. Louis, Missouri.
He fought a brief yet terminal illness for exactly one month in the Jefferson Barracks Hospice Care Unit..the nurses and doctors were superb as they provided care and comfort to the veterans in their care. I was privileged to be with him for almost 2 weeks and that was a blessing unimagined
My dad attended St. Louis Public schools and Sumner High School(1941-1943)served in the Korean War, was a Golden Gloves boxer, loved people, music and great reading materials…also had a great admiration for vintage cars especially his Cadillac Eldorado.
His graveside burial will be on July 1,2021 in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. Only 30 people will be allowed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Cards may be sent to P.O. Box 6883, Charlottesville, VA 22906
We will miss you Daddy, Granddaddy, Cousin and Dear Friend Please keep our family in prayer.
So Long
I am so sad to hear about Mr. Parker’s passing. He was a customer of mine at St. Louis Public Library. We enjoyed many chats about books, news, astrology, and our families. He was proud of his sons and of his niece, Dr. Tiffany Anderson (whom I had the pleasure of meeting many years ago when she worked at Clark Elementary). I gave him a box of cookies once, and he was quite tickled. Mr. Parker was funny and charming and seemed to enjoy his life in south St. Louis. I will miss him. He was a very special person. My heart goes out to his family.
