Sonja St. Clair-Hassler

On August 29, 2021, Sonja Lee St. Clair-Hassler age 56 was set free to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Lake St. Louis, MO. She leaves us with memories of her contagious thunderous laughter, passion for music, and love to dance. Everyone knows that the beach and ocean was her ultimate place to be. Sonja had endless supplies of fiery passion for the family she loved. Her nieces and nephews enjoyed being with her because she was known as the “fun Auntie.” Sonja’s daughter, Alexis (“Bug”), was her greatest joy. Her birth fulfilled a desire that Sonja thought would never happen. As time passed, Sonja became “GiGi” to her next greatest love, her granddaughter Pressley (Baby “P”). “Baby” Briar Rice is on the way and will know she is forever loved by her grandmother “GiGi” in Heaven. Her family and friends will never forget the love and devotion Sonja had for her daughter and grandchildren.

Sonja leaves behind a spouse Andy Hassler; parents William Lee and Carol Lee St. Clair; siblings Wanda Lee Lewis, Stacy Lee Baber, Shannon Lee Cherian, and Nathan Lee St. Clair; daughter Alexis Nicole Rice, son in law Briar James Rice, granddaughter Presley Briar Rice, and granddaughter “Baby” Briar Rice. She also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, family, and friends that will miss her dearly.

“Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring — what your life will be! For you are like vapor that appears for a little while then vanishes (James 4:14)”

Though her time here with us was way too short (vanishing like a vapor), Sonja will always be a part of the lives of her family and friends.

I cannot believe this beautiful sparkle of a friend has passed to eternity. You were in my life for too short a time, but oh what a time we had in Jacksonville, Florida. I remember our two girls being mistaken for sisters, singing at church, laughing til our sides split, sharing clothes, shopping, praying and worshipping God together. Thanks for introducing me to your delightful parents (I remember the orchids) and your sister Stacy. (Thanks for the little gold and diamond heart necklace)
So glad I got to video chat with you from my home in Oxford, England just a few weeks ago. Your last words to me, ‘Oh send me your address Usha I want to send you a new purse.’ So my dear Sonja, giver of love, joy and gifts, rest in peace.
    We will meet again!
