Patty Shipley
Patty Arlene Shipley, age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 19, 2021, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Patty is survived by her three children: Stephanie Brady (Michael) of Kodiak, Alaska, Darrin Shipley (Flo) of Uganda, and Matthew Shipley (Julia) of St. Louis, Missouri. She is predeceased by her parents Ernest and Mary Griffith and her sister Judy Black (Jim).
Patty grew up in Springfield, Illinois and graduated from Lanphier High School. Following high school, she attended training at the Springfield Clinic to become an X-Ray Technician. She had a career spanning 30 years working at the Springfield Clinic (Springfield, Illinois), the Carlinville Area Hospital (Carlinville, Illinois), Kaiser Clinic (Roseville, CA), and Pekin Hospital (Pekin, Illinois). Patty truly loved the medical field and was blessed to meet so many friends over the years at each hospital.
Patty loved crafting, antiquing, and bible study. She was an avid collector of cobalt blue glass throughout her life. She loved Elvis Presley. She enjoyed traveling, especially to visit her grandchildren. She was able to visit several states in the United States including Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland, Colorado, California, Alaska, and abroad including Turkey and Uganda, and a cruise to the Caribbean with family and friends.
Above everything, Patty loved her family and watching her grandkids. She loved spending time with her five grandchildren: Dylan, Landon, Brady, Arabella, and AJ. All who spent time with her throughout her life will miss Patty.
The family asks that donations can be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in honor of the deceased.
She was always ready to travel and willing to take a joke at her expense. Reflect back at all the crazy “Pat and Beev” stories – always a good chuckle. She definitely loved her Grandkids over everything. Glad we got to see her a few weeks back. She will be missed, rest in peace.
My heartfelt sympathy to her children and grandchildren, they were her life. She was a wonderful sister-in-law and I’ll never forget how kind she was to my mother.
Patty was like a 2nd mom to me growing up with Matt. So many great times traveling with her and her family. She will be missed but not forgotten!
