Paul Edward Hostkoetter
Paul Edward Hostkoetter, age 70, of Saint Charles, Missouri, left his earthly body on Sunday, November 14, 2021.
Paul was born in St. Louis, Missouri and was raised with the unwavering love of his amazing parents, Raymond and Launnetta Hostkoetter.
Paul was blessed to share nearly 38 years with his wife, Deborah Hostkoetter, who held him through all of life’s vows, in sickness and health, till the angels called him home.
His legacy carries on through his children, Brian (Amber) Hostkoetter, Jamie (Neil) Burton, and John Nelson; and his grandchildren, Hannah, Emma, Trey, Charlie, Zachary and Naomi.
Paul spent many years in sales and ultimately used his gift of being a people person to share God’s word through the works of the church. Paul spent time as a deacon before making the ultimate commitment to the Brazilian Rite Catholic priesthood for married priests. He was also a Benedictine Oblate for 20 years which is affiliated with the monks and nuns in Bartonville, IL. From that time he dedicated his ministry to enriching the spiritual lives of others, both in his own parish as well as by caring for those in nursing homes. He never knew a stranger and didn’t hesitate to go above and beyond to help others.
Among Paul’s other gifts and talents were his love for music, including playing the piano, the pride he took in his family and home, and his love of cooking a good meal.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his many extended family members, all of which were there to greet him at heaven’s gates. What a blessed reunion!

Prayers to you Deb and family. So glad to have met and spent time with you and Paul. He will be missed.
Sending love and hugs to you and all your family. Paul will be greatly missed. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
I didn’t even recognize him in his “younger days”..Great pictures of him and the entire family..he had a great life. Jamie did a wonderful job..and the photo montage was terrific. Miss his daily phone calls, just to see what was going on, asking advice, giving me a “shopping list” or giving me advice on how to beat my brother in golf. I am sure Dolly was waiting for him at the Rainbow Bridge. My prayers are with you Debbie and the rest of the family.
My deepest condolences to you, Deb, and to your family. Fr. Paul nudged me to become a Benedictine Oblate in 2007.
“How awesome are the feet of him who brings glad tidings; who announces PEACE…”
Thank you dear Father Paul for your living testimony of life, for your acceptance of the call to minister in the holy name of Christ; most of all for adopting a small Benedictine community as your spiritual home. May He who brings glad tidings receive you in his arms! PAX~
Prayers are with you Debbie, and Brian, and the entire family.
Debbie and Hostkoetter family,

Debbie my love and prayers are with you and your family.
Dear Debbie, please accept my sympathies. I pray you and the kids will be able to weather this storm. You have been a faithful friend for so many years. God Bless you and your family!!
My deepest condolences to Deb and the entire family. Fr. Paul led me into ICAB and into Oblation of St. Benedict for which I will be eternally thankful. God bless you and may you be with Him forevermore.
Debbie, our condolence and prayers are with you and your family at the passing of Father Paul. Take consolation that he is with the Lord he served and continues to watch over and be with you in spirit. Paul was a very talented and dedicated cleric attentive to the needs of many individual persons and important causes. He had a unique personality of determining a need and the drive to fix the problem. I am sure he was greeted by the Lord with the words we all hope to hear, “well done good and faithful servant,.”
Memory Eternal. Amen, amen.
Debbie, I really miss him, especially his phone calls. I hope you ans the family are doing well, especially Brian. Love and prayers
Fr. Paul was a true friend to residents and staff while working along side me in nursing homes over the years. Always there when you needed him never asking anything in return. Saying Mass to those who were home bound or driving the bus to field trips. It was a true pleasure our paths crossed. Always in my thoughts and prayers.
To Debbie and her family, I send you love, prayers and condolences. So sorry for your loss! So glad that God put his parents as my neighbors and that’s how I met Paul. I will miss our friendship, his wit and his funny way of being. Rest in peace my friend!
Thank you all for your words of acknowledgement…very comforting. I miss
