Scott Guy Stibitz

Scott Stibitz, son of Ken and Rose Stibitz, passed away on December 7, 2021, after a valiant and long battle with Alzheimer’s dementia. Scott leaves behind his wife Thelma; his two children, Sara (Ryan) and Juan (Natasha), his sisters, Janet (Jim) and Barb (Joe); his nieces and nephews, Ben, Zach, Kari, and Molly; and his grandchildren, Ari and Lily. Scott also leaves behind many beloved cousins on both the Stibitz and Giordano sides, as well as numerous friends.

Scott graduated from Mona Shores High School in 1965.  He was a member of the MSHS wrestling team and active in the Civil Air Patrol. In his younger years, Scott spent many hours hunting and fishing with his uncles. Scott also loved to sail. He spent many hours crewing on boats and sailing with his buddies on Lake Michigan. Scott attended Michigan State University (MSU) where he was on the MSU rugby team and enjoyed playing racquetball. He then earned his MBA from University of Hartford Barney School of Business and worked for Thermo King for over 25 years. Scott was also an avid golfer and will be remembered fondly for his superior backward tree shot at Lincoln Golf Course while on a family golf outing.

Scott’s job with Thermo King took him all over the world. He spent several years in Spain and Brazil. While working in the Dominican Republic, Scott met and soon married Thelma, his wife of 29 years. They lived in Minnesota up until a year ago, when they moved to St. Louis, Missouri. Scott loved riding his motorcycle with his purple mohawk helmet and snazzy biker apparel. He loved volunteering for the local animal shelter and had a tremendous affection for dogs and cats. After he could no longer drive, Scott could be seen tooling around the neighborhood on a large 3-wheel bike.

Scott loved life and was truly one of a kind. He loved his family, being with people, food, a good cold beer, and having a great time. Scott will be dearly missed by all.

An online memorial will be held on December 16th, 2021 at 5 PM CST.

An in-person memorial will be held the week of June 20, 2022 in Muskegon, MI.
