Dr. Carlos J. Deleste

It is with profound sadness that the Deleste family announces the passing of Dr. Carlos J. Deleste. He passed away at the age of 78 on Friday, December 31, 2021, in the presence of family and fittingly, a priest named Elvis.

Born August 27, 1943, in Manduriao, Iloilo, Philippines, Carlos – also known as Hun, Dad, Lolo, Wowo, Tito, Uncle, Baby, Caloy, and Charlie depending on those close to him – came to the United States after marrying Tessie and becoming one of the most preeminent doctors in his field of Urology in the metropolitan St. Louis area.

Carlos was particularly fond of karaoke and travel, visiting faraway places of religious importance with his wife around the world. He was also keen to visit his motherland often, providing medical services in jungle villages to the poorest of the poor in the Philippines who required attention.

Carlos was preceded in death by his parents Marciano and Milagros, and Kimba, his pet monkey. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Tessie; his daughters Charlotte and Michelle; son-in-law Ron; grandsons Giovanni and Benicio; and sisters Daisy and Mary Ann, along with countless relatives we haven’t heard from in years who will probably come out of the woodworks now.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 10:30am, at St. Simon’s the Apostle Church, 11011 Mueller Rd., St. Louis, MO 63123, immediately followed by a burial at TBD.

Due to stupid COVID, there will be no visitation. Details for the 40-day celebratory mass and reception will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers & lasagna, Tessie and the Deleste family humbly request donations to Gio’s Garden in his name. Gio’s Garden is a respite care center in Middleton, Wisconsin. Gio’s Garden was started by his daughter Charlotte to provide therapeutic respite care for children with special needs ages zero to six to provide immediate help for families in need. It’s named in honor of Carlos’ oldest grandson, Gio.

Visit: Giosgarden.org or Gio’s Garden, 2028 Parmenter St., Middleton, WI 53562.

A full SPECTACULAR obituary will be published on Tessie’s & Charlotte’s Facebook pages following the service.
