Larry Norman Arnold
Larry Norman Arnold, 76, of Ballwin, Missouri, passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital on 8/28/2022 at 5:50 a.m. after a long battle with health issues.
Larry was born on 11/3/1945 to Leo Sural and Eva Marie Arnold in Portland, Indiana. After he graduated high school, he attended a technical school for a diploma in electricity before joining the Navy to serve his country. After serving his time as an Ordinance Mechanic, he continued his education at Ball State University to receive a Bachelor of Science.
He started his long career (47 years) as an electrical engineer with Westinghouse, which later became ASEA Brown Boveri (ABB), from which he retired in 2012.
In 1999, Larry met his spouse Don in St. Louis, Missouri. They lived in Alabama, Tennessee, and finally landed in Missouri in 2012, where they bought a house.
After retirement, Larry spent his time growing his orchids and working to make his house the perfect home. Many do not know that he loved animals and had several rescues over the years. He was a passionate advocate for human and animal rights.
Larry was predeceased by his mother Eva Marie, father Leo, sister Glenita Domansky, brother Glenwood Arnold, and nephew Tom Arnold. He is survived by:
His loving spouse Don Flores, daughter Candace Middleton, granddaughters Bailey and Mallory Middleton, and great-grandson Finn. He is survived by his nieces Lynita (husband, Gary O’Connor) and Carolyn Sue Arnold. Surviving nephews are David Rosebery (wife, Andrea), Bob Arnold (wife, Sarah), and Mike Arnold (wife, Janice). He is also survived by his loving sister-in-law Marsha Davidson.
According to Larry’s wishes, there will be no service. He wanted everyone to remember him as he was and to celebrate his life. He touched many lives and was well-loved, and will be missed by all who knew him.
BD taught me to follow my dreams and passions, regardless of the opinions or thoughts of other. I first met BD during my first profession as a Computer Engineer. I enjoyed my job, but never foresee me in retiring in that profession. Here comes BD…encourage me to search my life’s path… Let go of resentment and Bitterness. I went back to school, completed another bachelor degree BSN in nursing, then another Master degree MSN, then completing my terminal degree PhD in Nursing! Thank you for making a difference in my life. it is true that words can’t wipe away our tears, but the memories will live forever in our heart. Rest in peace BD.
Larry and I have been friends I’m guessing around 8 years or so. And it has been a wonderful friendship…though I never met Larry in person. Larry and I had a friend in common who would send group emails to several of us. One day, and for some unremembered reason I wrote directly to Larry and that’s how it all began. I too love gardening and growing flowers year round like Larry did. But he was so good with growing orchids (sadly I am not) and my indoor gardens were often graced with Amaryllis. We shared plant pictures, plants and really, so much more. How can two people who have never met, who are different in so many ways become so important to each other? Don’t have a full answer except that Larry was an exceptional man who was generous with his heart and his love. So yes, I believe us to be good friends.
Often at the end of our emails we would add. I wish you now a beautiful day and a nice hot delicious cup of coffee to start your day. Love and Hugs… Larry, I wish you now a wonderful eternal life and yes, I am betting there is amazing delicious coffee where you are. Have a cup for me. I never knew Larry directly, but he was with my best friend for 23 years. I know how happy Don was and I never that he had met his soul mate and that meant the world to me. Don it saddens me to see you have to go through this. Know in your heart of hearts that I knew that Larry was a very good man and husband. I know this because of how happy you two were together and don’t forget he is with you and will guide through this time because of who he is.

I never met Larry in person but I sure prayed for his recovery . God had
other plans for him and called him to heaven to be with his Family there
that passed before him. Larry is now in no pain and suffering. Living with God.
I know it isn’t easy Don but God knows best.
I worked with Larry for several years at ABB and we kept in touch after we both retired. He was such a kind person. I will always remember his stories about his dogs – and there were many! Larry will be missed by many.
