Robert Durr
Bob departed this life on Friday, October 21, 2022 at home with his wife Kathy and family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Reese and Esther Durr, sister Lula Durr and great aunt Cassie “Babe” Lotts and great uncle William “Buddy” Robertson.
Robert “Bob” Durr was born to the union of Reese Durr and Esther Mae Robertson on October 2, 1939 in Webb, Miss. While he was young, his mom Esther relocated to St. Louis with him and his only sister Lula to St. Louis.
He attended McKinley and Vashon high schools. He graduated from Vashon High in 1957.
He had a love of computers, electronics and fixing things which led him to be employed by Monsanto in the IT Department in the 1970’s and had a successful career and retired in 1991.
He met and married the love of his life, Kathleen Hudlow on September 28, 1980 and they were married 42 years until his death.
When he wasn’t at Monsanto, he always enjoyed his favorite hobbies – working on cars and listening to music.
Whenever he and Kathy would step out on the town, they would be dressed sharp and he always sported one of his favorite hats.
At family functions, the party would definitely get started when he and Kathy arrived. There were plenty of epic fish fry’s, Christmas parties and many impromptu parties with family and friends enjoying his company with dancing, eating and having some great conversations or playing some competitive games of pool.
He was affectionately known by family as “Sonny”. He was definitely a family man and very close to his mom and sister Lula. Some weekend mornings he would come over and have coffee with his mom and sister just to catch up on everything going on. He also had some life-long friends that were always there: Dennis, Freddy and Rose, and Betty.
He leaves to cherish his loving wife Kathy of 42 years; brother-in-law Billy Bradshaw (Grace) of Washington, MO; sister-in-law Linda Hudlow of Maryland; and brother-in-law David Phillips of Cuba, MO; nieces April King (Julius), Nicole Durr Tabron (James); nephew Tremont “Tiger” Durr (Diane); niece Felicia Durr Tabron
(Lowell) and two great nieces Jamie and Loren Tabron; four great nephews Devin King, Jordan Tabron, Tremont Jr. and Michael Durr
The love of my life will never be forgotten, rest my love until we are together again
