David Joseph Whitney

David Joseph Whitney, Sr., a beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather
(Pawps), great-grandfather and beloved friend to many, of St. Louis, passed
away early Friday morning, October 28, 2022. He was 87 years old.

He was born to the late Charles Oris Whitney and Katherine Josephine
Whitney (Parker) on March 12, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri

David married Judith Ann Frantz, July 1956 in Waterloo, Illinois.
David was a self-taught welder and found his passion in Ornamental Iron.
He started his own business in mid-60’s, American Ornamental Iron and in
his own words “I never worked a day in my life!”
David’s favorite pass times were going to Lake Wauwanoka, traveling,
boating and being with family and friends.

David is survived by his son David Joseph Whitney II, and daughter in law
Judy Whitney. Grandchildren, Jacki, Katie, and David III. Great-
grandchildren, Wyatt, Anna, Waylon, Amelia, Davy IV, and baby girl
Whitney due December 2022. Sister Phyllis and nieces, nephews, cousins
and many friends.

David is preceded in death by his father Charles and mother Katherine, the
love of his life, his wife Judy. Brothers Charlie, Richard, Phillip, Timmy,
Danny, Michael, and Pat. Sisters Kate, Lil and Rosie.

Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church
(4355 Butler Hill Road, 63128)

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am

Memorial Service at 11:00 am

Committal at 12:00 pm at Grantwood Village St. Paul Churchyard.
Meal following committal 12:45 pm at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.

    Uncle David, I remember as a child, you working in your garage…..doing the ornamental iron…..(making a name for yourself.) You were such a hard worker.
    Always kind. Gonna miss our talks.

    My sweet Uncle David….I’m going to miss you bunches!! I’m going to have so many fond memories to cherish for the rest of my life. I am so thankful that I got to stay with you for the first year when I moved back here. We had some funny
    times together that year LOL You always made me laugh. You were a GREAT Uncle who was always there for me and I will never forget that!!! LOVE YOU ❣️

    I’m so glad I got the pleasure of being with you this last month watching you dance sing and sing your happy song!! Laugh and joke and just be so loving and bright! I’m glad I got pictures with you to cherish these moments and to always look back on and see that handsome smile! I will always remember swimming at the lake and paddle boating with my momma and all the family! I’m gunna miss hearing you say well it’s a Whitney thing and laughing! I love you uncle David! May you rest in peace and say hello to all the ones we miss so dearly. It’s never goodbye it’s see again one day!!! Love you!!

    Uncle Dave I have so many memories of you and dad especially when you guys were putting up the building i always love seeing you out there I will miss you dearly and I know you are up there with them all I hope you have a great family reunion with all of them love you too the moon and back
