Daniel William Brady

Daniel William Brady, 62, fortified with the sacraments of the holy mother church passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024 after a very brief illness. Born in St. Louis on September 10, 1961, he was the son of the late Charles Robert Brady and Margaret Brady (nee) O’Donnell. Daniel was a Husband, Father, Cherished Pa Pa, Best Brother, Godfather, Uncle, Great Uncle, Brother-in-Law, Cousin, and adored friend to so many.

Daniel was a Retired Detective Sgt. with the University City Police Department where he served for 32 years receiving many awards during his years of service. After retiring from University City PD, he served as a Deputy Sheriff for St. Louis County. Up until his death, he was employed as a Security Specialist Officer for Emerson Electric. He loved his job at Emerson and he considered all his coworkers his extended family.

Daniel was a protector of many long before he followed in the footsteps of his maternal Grandfather, Patrick J. O’Donnell, and his older brother to serve and protect as a Policeman. He was his own man and he was never influenced by others to be someone he was not. He was the first one to stand up for what was right and was always helping someone in need. He had an irresistible charm, a quick wit, and a twinkle in his eye when he was making people laugh. He loved his family and friends, God, music, Cardinal baseball, and great conversation with people from all walks of life. One of his favorite activities was spending time with his six grandchildren around the pool, sharing “his” music, and reminiscing about all the great times and all the great friendships he established throughout his life. Dan had a heart of gold, never met a stranger, and treated everyone he met with the utmost respect. If you were lucky enough to call him a friend, you had a friend for life.

A celebration of life was held on May 11, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in St. Louis, Missouri. In memory of Daniel, the Daniel Brady Scholarship Fund has been established at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School. Daniel valued his catholic school education and felt strongly that others have the same opportunity. This Scholarship represents the way Daniel lived his life, most importantly,  his constant faith and generous heart. We hope the Daniel Brady Scholarship will afford other children the same opportunity as Daniel and help relieve some of the financial burden with today’s tuition costs.
