Winifred “Win” Mauer
Winifred “Win” Mauer (nee Williams), age 90, of Chesterfield, MO, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024. She was born on January 2nd, 1934 (1-2-34) in Lonedell, MO.
Win worked as a secretary for over 30 years at McKelvey Elementary School in Maryland Heights, where she had a positive influence on many young minds. She loved to travel and was able to visit many places around the world. Some of her fondest memories were the annual trips to Gulf Shores with her adult children and young grandchildren.
She also shared many adventures with best friend and next-door neighbor for over 50 years, Lucille. For many years it was their daily ritual to start the day with breakfast at La Bonne Bouchee cafe and bakery where they would split a pastry. Win had a great sense of humor and was such a fun person to be around.
“Win” as I always called her, was my mother-in-law for 24 years but I knew her many years before. Win had a sense of humor that was sometimes quirky and dry but deep down it was meant to be funny. That’s just who she was. She was a wonderful mother and Grammy. We took many fun trips together with the whole family and both her and Joe were always so generous and kind. I saw her a lot during our days of cutting lawns and she always welcomed us into her home for lunch. I’m know she is so blessed now to be with her “two Joes”. My love for John, Jim and all the kids goes out to them for their loss of a very special lady and a kind soul. Thank you Win for being my mother-in-law and friend. God bless you and all my love, Debbie
