Joseph Goldberg

Joseph Goldberg, 81, of Creve Coeur, MO, passed away on October 18, 2014 of a neuro-muscular disorder. Joe was the beloved husband of Ruth (Miller) Goldberg for 55 years. He was the beloved father of Mark Goldberg and Elizabeth (Goldberg) Clark, and beloved grandfather of Hilary, Wesley, and Karrah Goldberg and Stephanie Clark. Born in NY City on July 29, 1933, he was married in NY on April 11, 1959, and moved to St. Louis in 1964, joining Wohl Shoe Company (Brown Grp). He rose in the ranks at Wohl to retire as Sr VP. Joe was a life-member of the Two-Ten charitable Foundation, to which he was appointed as the 1st regional VP and named “Mr. Two-Ten” in the Midwest. In 1990, he was honored by the Two-Ten Florida Chapter as Two-Ten “Shoe Man of the Year” for his service to the organization. Having served on the board for more than 15 years, Joe was declared an honorary life director. He was Chairman of the St. Louis Chapter of SCORE and served on the UMSL Entrepreneurship Advisory Board. A longtime Creve Coeur resident, he was very active in the community and served on the storm water comm for 12 years. He was honored by the Mayor and made a Creve Coeur Squire. He was a long time trustee of his subdivision. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran: awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was discharged on February 3, 1955. Joe became an enthusiastic tennis player in his retirement years. He was a dedicated member of the Temple Emanuel Congregation, where he served as chairman of the house and grounds committee. To all his family and friends Joe was the very embodiment of generosity and good-will. He has been tirelessly supportive of his children’s’ and grandchildren’s’ interests, talents, and happiness. He will be deeply missed by all of them and by all who carry with them the understanding of how much their lives have been enriched by Joe.

A Memorial service will be held on November 9 at 10am at Temple Emanuel, 12166 Conway Road, Creve Coeur.

    Dear Ruth, Mark and Liz, Joe was such a dear friend, and I have always treasured my relationship with all of you. I was so happy to have had they chance to talk with him very recently. Love and best wishes to all of you. DICK
