Miriam Sisson passed away Saturday evening at her home. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She was happily married to the late Dr. Richard G. Sisson for 62 years. She was a devoted mother to her 4 children: Michael (Josina) Sisson, John (Betsy) Sisson, Peter (Rosalie) Sisson, and Barbara (Steve) Sisson/Silverman. She was a fabulous grandmother to her 9 grandchildren: David, Kathryn, Ben, Rachel, Rebecca, Allie, Mimi, Max and Charlie. She was a thoughtful and loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was the center of her family’s life until she died.”
She is survived by her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Barbara Shifrin and her beloved sister-in-law Roberta Shifrin, all of St. Louis, MO. She was the daughter of the late Ben and Celeste Shifrin and predeceased by her brother Robert Shifrin.
A lifelong St. Louis resident she still had many friends reaching all the way back to grade school. She went to Flynn Park elementary school in University City and graduated from Clayton High School in Clayton. She graduated from Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA. She was an advocate for many causes, and heavily involved in volunteer work, including tutoring of underprivileged children and supporting the St. Louis Symphony, serving a term as President of the volunteer organization for the symphony.
Memorial service to be held at: Temple Emanuel located at 12166 Conway Road, on Sunday January 18th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Louis Symphony.
