Robert Gerald Zignago
Robert (Bob) Gerald Zignago passed away peacefully on July 13, 2015 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was preceded in death by his parents, Olga (née Molinar) and Owen Zignago. He is survived by his two children, Michelle Zignago of St. Louis and Tony Zignago of Los Angeles, CA, his grandson Gian Zignago, his sister Carolyn Zignago of Madison, Wisconsin and his former wife Georgia Hepp.
Bob was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 23, 1939. He enjoyed the Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. As a child, he had a passion for model trains and would build elaborate scenes in his parent’s basement for his collection.
Bob was a graduate of CBC High School and Washington University in St. Louis and served in the Air Force Reserve. He had a long career in St. Louis as an art director in the advertising business working at various companies such as Wohl Shoe Co., GGH&M Advertising, and BHN Advertising. At BHN, he was a shareholder and senior level creative working on Moog Automotive, Maull’s barbecue sauce and many other accounts. Batz-Hodgson-Neuwoehner became the largest independently owned advertising firm in St. Louis during his tenure in the 70’s and 80’s. After leaving BHN, Bob started his own firm, the Zignago Idea Group in Clayton. There he continued to specialize in automotive accounts and worked until his disease forced his retirement in 2003.
Bob was an accomplished artist, known for his sense of humor. He loved to study history, art and architecture. He also loved to listen to music and had an incredible vinyl record collection. He spent the last several years in Autumn View Senior Living and most recently, Delmar Gardens West. In his later years, Bob most enjoyed the time he spent with his grandson, Gian.

Having my father endure Parkinson’s Disease, I know about the difficult journey and the peace of knowing that his suffering is no more.
