Lillian Mills

Lillian Mills passed away peacefully in her home in the early morning hours of March 10, 2017 with her loved ones by her side.

Born in Mobile, Alabama, Lillian was the daughter of the late Douglas and Barbara Mills, both of whom passed away many ages ago. Lillian moved to the St. Louis area early in life and resided here until her passing. She gave birth to 2 children, Barbara and James, and was also a mother to her nieces and nephews, JoAnn, William, Charles, Barbara, Patricia and Carol. Her son James Edward Mills and niece Barbara Mills had already gone ahead of her to Heaven, as well as one great-nephew, James Mills who was like a grandchild to her.

Lillian was a kind and caring person. She opened her home and her life to many people and took care of them until they grew up to be able to return the favor to her. She was very lovable because she was happy all the time. Her loving presence will be missed.

Lillian loved to sew. She was very talented at embroidery and quilt making, and this never left her, even when she was confused due to her Alzheimers.

Lillian is survived by: her daughter-Barbara Ann Mills; her honorary children (nieces and nephews)-JoAnn Mills, William Edward Mills, Charles (wife Caroline) Mills, Patricia (partner Jeff Bridge) Mills and Carol Mills; her great-nieces and great-nephews (honorary great grandkids) – Andrew Kiemel, Carl Kiemel, Fred Mills, Robert Mills, Michelle Kennedy and Charles Mills, Jr.; as well as 3 great, great “grandkids” and many other relatives and friends.

Services: A memorial service will be held for her on the afternoon of Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Church of St. Louis, 3145 Lafayette Ave., St. Louis MO 63104. Please come and celebrate her memory with with her family and friends.
