Judy Murphy
Judy Murphy passed away on the morning of July 4th. She devoted her entire life to serving others. She taught music while her husband was in college; she chose to be a stay-at-home mom while her children were in school; and she was a foster mother to infants awaiting adoption.
Throughout much of her life Judy was involved in church work, including teaching C.C.E. for students with special needs for several years. Later she was employed by St. Catherine of Siena in many roles, including pastoral care.
In her later years, Judy decided to pursue her lifelong dream of service in the field of medicine. She worked in the office of a hospice agency in Houston, TX, and while in her sixties, went back to school to earn her Licensed Vocational Nursing Degree; earning a scholarship for her studies along the way. Her final years of employment were spent as an L.V.N. in an in-patient hospice unit. Judy retired from her nursing service in order to care for her husband, Greg, who had been diagnosed with dementia.
In October of 2016, after a seizure, Judy herself began showing signs of dementia and, after several years of receiving care in the home, she had most recently moved into an assisted living facility.
In spite of living with a rare lung disease for more than 40 years, which resulted in progressive COPD, Judy always greeted life with enthusiasm, joy, great courage, and strength; and she never failed to offer kindness and compassion to others. Judy is survived by her daughter Cathy, her son Stephen, her son-in-law Jack, her sister and brother-in-law Betsy and Carl, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Jeanette, and her nephew and his wife, Adam and Ashlie. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel in DuBourg House, 5890 Eichelberger, St. Louis, MO 63109 on July 17th at 10:00 AM. A 2nd Funeral Service will be held at Rooftop Church, 9217 Gravois Road, St. Louis, MO 63123 on July 30th at 7pm.
May peace be with your family knowing Judy is with loved ones in her Father’s home in Heaven.

Judy was a treasure and blessing to our family since the day I met her. We always enjoyed our time with her as she joined us for regular dinners, along with her precious puppy!! She was an inspiration to me as she continually sought to deepen her walk with the Lord, always pressing to finish the race that she was running. So grateful she is resting with her Savior know, after running a wonderful race!!
I am so thankful that God brought Judy to Rooftop Church and into my life. My life is all the more richer from knowing and spending time with Judy. She taught me and lived out how to have and experience JOY no matter the circumstances. There are so many trasure moments that Judy and I had, praying together, leading a small group bible study, and sharing our experiences of our mighty God. Judy is now in heaven with her beloved husband, Greg. I imagine she is dancing, singing, and praising Jesus in a worship time that is unbelievable, Yahoo to Judy.
Judy’s love for her Savior overflowed making everyone around her feel loved. She was an encouragement to me as a foster mom. Her smile will be missed.
I met Judy when our mutual friend Susan brought her to our church (Rooftop Church) years ago. She was so vibrant and full of life, emblematic of her fiery red hair. Judy had a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ and had an amazing journey with her Savior over the years of her life. Even though I met and knew Judy during the “sunset period” of her life, her fervency and zeal for God were always so encouraging and inspiring. I have missed her these past couple of years as she battled with dementia, and will miss her now that she is “graduated” to her heavenly body and her eternal home.
Judy was such a joy to be around. Her smile and love of Jesus were so contagious. She was an inspiration of devotion to the Bible, her church and God. We miss her, but I’m so happy she’s dancing in the streets with Jesus (and her husband) now.
Judy & Greg were such a blessing to us and our family. We look forward to seeing them again in heaven.
