Bettie Flagler
Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
Bettie L Flagler, age 70, was born on Dec. 25th, 1938 in Plainview, TX, to Roy Raiford Daniel and Bettie B. (Bledsoe) Daniel, the youngest of three siblings.
On July 20th, 2009, Bettie passed away peacefully after a courageous battle against Cancer, in her home at Lake Sherwood, MO. In accordance with her wishes she was cremated at the St Louis Crematory on July 22nd, 2009.
Bettie grew up and attended grade school and high school in Olton, TX. She was a cheerleader as well as a starting guard on the Olton H.S. basketball team. After H.S., Bettie attended two years of college at West Texas State College in Canyon, TX. In 1958 she married Ronald P. Curtis. This relationship lasted for 21 years and produced two beautiful daughters named Deborah Ann and Ronni Jeanette.
In 1983 she was united in marriage to Norris J. Flagler and gained three wonderful step children named John Lee, Tammy Lynn, and Randal Todd Flagler.
During her lifetime Bettie performed various jobs well but she excelled in performing the most difficult position as a mother to her children and companion to her husband, Norris.
Preceding her in death are her parents and her older brother Raiford Jr. She is survived by her sister Javern, her husband Norris, her two daughters, her three step children and 9 grandchildren including Deborah’s two children: Randi J Russell and Trey Allen Lowenthal, Ronni’s two boys: Trevor D. and Quintin J. Rosewicz, John’s three girls: Erin C., Caitlin N., and Jillian E. Flagler, Tammys’s two girls: Meagan A, and Taylor N. McCarthy and step son, Randy Flagler.
In addition to her love for family and motherly duties, Bettie was an avid tennis player and enjoyed traveling with Norris and sometimes some of the family to Mexico and many Caribbean Islands. She and her husband also cruised around the world in 72 days in 2001. Bettie was a fantastic dancer, went fishing with her husband as long as the fish were biting, enjoyed reading, and was a tough Trivial Pursuit opponent.
Bettie’s bubbling personality among friends and heart warming smile affected many of the lives of the people she met and she will truly be missed by many!
Our hearts are heavy, the girls will miss their Gigi. Much love and support to Norris, Debbi and Ronni.
Norris and Family:
We have known very few persons as warm and courageous as Bettie. She has been an example for us all, and we know the Angels in Heaven are blessed and rejoicing to have her in their presence, just as we have been. God Bless you all.
We are so fortunate to have Bettie’s daughter Ronni as our dear friend and know that Bettie’s legacy will be carried on because of Ronni’s kindness, compassion, honesty and love. Our hearts go out to your family. We admire your strength.
What a beautiful way to celebrate life! Although I had never met Bettie…her life lives on in her wonderful daughter Ronni and her family! My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
