RIP, Mr. Fritz. We didn’t hang out enough, but you showed me a fantastic time every time we did. I know your son, Matthew very well; he’s one of my greatest friends. Matt bragged about you every chance he got, and no one ever minded, because the stories were always a delight. I wish I’d known you better. My condolences to all of your family and friends. May your spirit continue to shine brightly in the Great Beyond.

So sorry to hear of Eddie Sr’s passing. I am a good friend of Eddie Jr’s. In addition to meeting and talking with him on a few occasions, I also had the great pleasure of sitting in with Eddie Sr on one of his gigs at the Ritz. Although I was obviously a Jazz novice on the guitar, Eddie was gracious with his time and comments and made me feel very comfortable with my efforts. He also managed to crack me up more than once during the set I played with him. Classic! The stories about Eddie Sr, both funny and professional are legendary in St Louis music scene. He was one of the greats! He will be sorely missed. RIP Eddie Sr.

Sorry to hear of Mr. Fritz’s passing. I have a lot of great memories of being in the Fritz house when Eddie Jr. and I were in high school, and Mr. Fritz was always warm and generous. We also were able to tag along with him to some gigs, which was pretty cool for a young piano player. Your family will be in my thoughts.

Ed and I were classmates at St. Louis University High School, ’60. I remember that he played piano for the Glee Club and that he used to practice the piano on his desk during Father Doyle’s theology class!
We were good friends. I shall miss him and say a prayer for him.

Eddie Ada and Clint. Best jazz in STL for a long time. Schenkel still alive.
