John Bondurant

John Paul Bondurant senior of Lombard aged 65 passed away quickly and quietly while traveling through Cape Girardeau, Mo, on Monday, 10/29/2007, after a brain aneurysm. Born in Walla Walla, Washington, on March 9, 1942, John spent his life dedicated to those that he loved. Although preceded in death by his parents Richard and Frances Bondurant and brother, Timothy, he is survived by his wife Marilyn, married children Debra and Scott Carlson, John and Michelle Bondurant, Susan and Mark Hendrix, Kathy and Andy Pogorzelski and grandchildren Jessica, Tiffany, Dylan, Alyssa, Cody and Madeline.

After graduation from High School in Hermiston, Oregon, John enlisted in the Army and served his country faithfully first being stationed in Addison, Illinois and then onto Korea. During his time in Illinois he met and married his wife Marilyn to whom he remained devoted to for 44 years. An amazing man of few words and an enormous heart, he enriched the lives of all that he met with a friendly smile and a strong handshake. John had retired from Navistar in the spring of 2007 and enjoyed spending time with family, friends and dogs, traveling, camping, cards, slots, and following the progress of the Bulls, White Sox and Dodgers. Although taken from this earth earlier than expected, his legacy lives on in those that he loved and those that he knew. Even in death, John continued to try to help those around him by gifting his body to the organ donor program. He will be sorely missed but always fondly remembered.

Very grateful to have spent some time with him and your family. I’ll remember him by the pure joy I saw on his face when his grandkids we’re playing in the living room, almost like they were putting on a show after dinner. He was a happy man. He’ll always be with you every time you think of him. So sorry for your loss. RiP Grandpa Bondurant.
