Patrick Durbin
Patrick Michael Durbin of St. Louis and San Diego, passed May 27, 2010, at age 47. He was the much loved son of the late Wm. P. Durbin and the late Rose M. Durbin, cherished brother of Bill (Martha) Durbin, Marie Durbin (Michael Lachtrup), Kate Durbin (Forrest Dunn), and Elizabeth Durbin, dear uncle of Mary and Lucy Durbin, Gabrielle Lachtrup, and Will Dunn, a devoted friend to many and daddy to his beloved dog, Lauren Jane.
Nursing was his calling, especially ER/Trauma. Throughout his career, Patrick always strove to know more. He earned his MSN and recently began additional work as a Family Nurse Practitioner. He pursued his passion for providing excellent care with perseverance and courage literally until the day he died. Patrick will be remembered for his generosity, hospitality, dancing skills, quick wit, snorting laugh, and phoenix-like ability to overcome adversity. We wish to thank the many friends and mentors in his life, especially Michael Tackaberry.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church, Saturday, June 19, 2010, at 1 P.M. Reception immediately following at the Parish Life Center. In lieu of flowers, donations to Food Outreach or Forest Park College of Nursing Scholarships would be appreciated.
Patrick was a friend of mine from the 80’s,when we attended Growing American Youth.
Patrick was my neighbor…I was shocked when I heard of his passing-I’m still shocked. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and Lauren. Patrick & I were going to school at the same time while holding full time jobs, so we constantly ran into each other late at night & chatted about school, papers, finals, stress, and finally graduation. He was a wonderful person, full of life and enthusiasm. I will truly miss him…hugs to Lauren.
This is very sad news! Pat & his family lived across the street from my family in Ladue, Mo. I had lost track of Pat in the early 1980’s & just learned of his passing today. Pat was a very sweet & compassionate person.
Loved loved Patrick!! He walked into our comp one class with a rainbow sweater and a ducky umbrella!!! We were fast friends and saw each other through good times and bad in nursing school with dorito nachos and all my children !! Those were the good old days!! Saw him when he moved to San Francisco . I loved him and was sad to here he passed. He always said he would never make it to fourty but he surprised everyone!!! My love to you Patrick aka Mr Pumkin man aka a swimmer and a dancer !!
