Theodore Madison Jr
Theodore Roosevelt Madison Jr. was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on April 4, 1943, to Rev. Roosevelt Madison and Tena (Thomas) Madison. Rosie, as he was most often called, had a older sister Rose Ella and he was also the eldest of four brothers… Larry, Charles, and Isaac.
His early years were spent in Hot Springs but he and his family moved to St. Louis in 1961. He attended Hatley High School (now known as Vashon). Always big for his age, he got his first job working at a fruit stand while attending high school.
In 1964, he was given his most precious gift, his son Kevin. Rosie and his family were blessed with raising Kevin throughout his childhood until his marriage in 1985.
In March 1971, at the age of 27 Rosie joined the military (Army). He served a tour in Vietnam and even re-enlisted after his time was up. After the military he moved back to the St. Louis area to be with his family. He held a variety of jobs after the military, including working with his father at Missouri Petroleum Products Co. in the security department.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and 2 brothers Larry and Charles.
He leaves behind his loving son Kevin Jackson and his wife Phyliss of St. Louis, Missouri, and his grandchildren Kashn and Cortez also of St. Louis, Missouri. His sister Rose Ella Hammond, and her family of Detroit, Michigan, and his brother Isaac Madison, and his family of Wentzville, Missouri.
Also in bereavement is Rosie’s niece Vickie Young, and her family, who was raised with Kevin by Rosie and his family. And special nieces and nephews Phyliss, Karl, George, and Gail who spent extended visits with him and his family. He will be missed by other family, loved ones, and friends.
Memorial services will be held at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 10, 2010, at 11:00 a.m.
