Alfred Pearl Alexander
Reflections from the Life of
ALFRED P. ALEXANDER
Alfred was born on May 16, 1934 in Marshall, Missouri. Alfred graduated from Marshall High School in 1952. He did a tour of duty as Airman Second Class in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1953-1957. He entered the trades as a Machinist Engineer with Carter Carburetor after his enlistment with the United States Air Force.
Alfred was blessed with a large and loving family, who all adored him. He met his wife, Mary Lorraine and they were married on October 24, 1963. Their romance lasted 52 years, until her passing. He lived vicariously through his grandchildren and they brought him so much joy and happiness.
He was known to be very creative and extremely handy. He enjoyed renovating homes in his spare time. Alfred also was an audiophile who loved the sound of music. It was no surprise that he spent some time as a disk jockey. He was called “Superfly” during this time of his life.
Alfred attended Eastern Star M.B. Church. He was a faithful member and Past Master of Frank J. Brown Lodge #80, Free & Accepted Mason Prince Hall Affiliated, and the 1984 Past Potentate of Medinah Temple #39, Oasis of St. Louis-Desert of Missouri, A.E.A.O.N.M.S. for over 42 years.
Alfred was predeceased by his wife, Mary Lorraine Alexander; father, William G. Alexander; mother, Josephine Thompson Alexander; daughter, Alice Payne; sisters, Saddie Bell Alexander, Mary (Sister) Alexander, and Ruby Ransom; and brothers, Roy Alexander, Robert Alexander, and Christopher Alexander. He is survived by his son Derrick Alexander; daughters, Rachel M. Lewis-Powell, Barbara Montgomery, and Anngellic Williams Dinkins; brothers, Michael Alexander and Herbert Alexander; ten grandchildren, Ronald Payne, Jr., Michael Payne, Debra Payne-Garner, John Payne, Angela Lewis-Hunte, Charles Kirk Carrothers, Mark Montgomery (Valerie), Brandee Pettus (Bernard), Shellee Scott (Tyrone), Jasmine Alexander, many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and loyal and dear friends.

To the Family: Your dad was such a good man and I always heard how good he was to your mom over many years. I know you will miss him and so will many others, but our dear God told him it was time for him to come home and be with Him. Know and believe your dad Alfred is happy and forever at peace living in God’s house. Love, Cousin Sheree AB Garrett
Grandpa “Al”, you will be greatly missed. To me, (Debra) he was a quiet and gentle person, while also being serious and distinguished. He was not only my Grandfather, but he was also my Masonic Brother. He and my grandmother Lorraine introduced me to the Order and help raise me up in it. And finally…The “Caramel Cakes” if you know-You Know! I know my grandparents are together again in the Father’s House. You will be greatly missed Grandpa, Rest in Peace.
Nobody knows the real me. Nobody knows how many times I’ve sat in my room and cried. How many times I’ve lost hope, how many times I’ve been let down. How many times I have felt like I was going to snap. How many times I have had to hold back tears? When I’m sad, the bad thoughts go through my mind. Sometimes, the strongest people are the ones who love beyond all faults, cry behind closed doors, and fight battles that nobody knows about. Only those who have known darkness can truly appreciate the light. I will miss you Bro. Al Alexander.

For 31+ years, God allowed us to be blessed by the presence of this quiet, loving gentleman. Bro. Alexander’s smile was one we looked forward to as we entered the Church doors. Knowing we will not be met by his smile leaves us sad but we have such wonderful memories to hold dear to our hearts. Rest on, Bro. Alexander. You will be missed.
May you Rest In Peace
Amen!
Grandpa AL, I will miss your quite gentleness and wonderful smile. You were so good to all of your grands, great-grands and especially my grandmother. You were there for her through it all. You are now reunited and prayerfully and lovingly watching over us all. My mom and dad are there now too. I pray that you all will be joined together in love, forgiveness and gratitude. Because that is all I have ever wanted. Love you Grandpa AL.
