Allen Nicholas Knittig

Allen Nicholas Knittig passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 8, 2025 at the age of 81. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 24,1944.

Allen is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughter Melissa; sister Theresa Luther (Bill) & brothers Raymond (Cindy) & Tony (Jackie). Brother in law’s Roger Arnold & John “ Sonny” Bauer. Uncle, cousin and friend of many. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Rose Knittig, Brother Bill Knittig, Sisters Rosemary Bauer & Dorothy Arnold & nephew Bill (Billy) Knittig. 

The family owned Knittig Brothers Bowl & Allen’s greatest talent was his bowling, bowling alongside with local greats Dick Weber & Don Carter. Allen’s biggest accomplishment was becoming a member of the National Bowling Hall of Fame in 2005. Along with his father & brothers Bill & Tony, Allen was also a long time member of the Concord Optimist Club. Allen also enjoyed playing in the Sunday beer softball league & even pitched a no hitter. 

He was loved by all & will be missed. 

A memorial mass service will be held for family & friends, Thursday, February 27th @ 6:30 p.m.

    My love and support to Melissa, Alan will surely be missed by all. He was a great man and made an impression in my life from a young age as my softball and soccer coach. I was very happy to meet him again later in life when we found ourselves on the same bowling team. You’re in my heart and prayers 🙏.
