Andre Piaseczny
Andre Piaseczny passed away at his home, October 12, 2024. Andy was born in Grodziec, Poland in 1959, the son of Henryk and Lucyna Piaseczny. He is survived by his mother, a retired chemist.
His formative years were at a time when Russia was harshly ruling Poland but the population was fed up with Russian rule. Andy joined a Polish political group to protest and was finally jailed for his courage. He was finally freed on the condition he must leave the country immediately. That forced exile took him to jobs in Italy and Germany. Finally with his degree in engineering he was able to come to the US and get a job at what is now Boeing Aircraft in St Louis. But he loved working outside and with his hands and left that good job to finally loving a career in construction and remodeling homes. All the people who hired him loved him for his detailed and good work.
During his last year, Andre bravely endured a long operation and then fought his cancer. He mostly kept his suffering private, sharing it with only a few. Throughout his treatments, he remained optimistic, always hoping for recovery. Even when the severity of his condition became clear, he carried a light smile, reassuring his friends that he felt better, hiding his pain and fear to spare them.
Andre was a Christian, kind, gentle, and a selfless soul who always stood by the vulnerable. His little cottage became a haven for friends, filled with joy and laughter. At his South St Louis home, alive with plants, birds, and whimsical figures from fairy tales—he loved to entertain, bringing warmth to those around him. He dreamed of brighter days as he tended to his beloved cat, nurturing hope even in the face of life’s hardships. Memories of Andre will remain alive in our hearts.
