Angelo John Croce

April 30th, 1938 – February 14th, 2023

Angelo John Croce, known to his friends as John, fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Mother Church passed away on February 14, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. He was 84 years old.

A native of St. Louis, John graduated from McBride High School in 1956. He played outside right on the St. Engelbert soccer team that won the 1956 National Junior Cup Championship. John was a 55-year member of Local 1310 Floor Layers Union. He “worked for God” having installed flooring at many of the area catholic churches and schools. John was an avid golfer, loved to fish and travel, and enjoyed spending many winters in the Florida Panhandle.

John is survived by his wife, JoAnn Burns Croce (nee Williams), his children Angie (Ben) Becker, Carolyn Kelley, Steve (Cathy) Croce, and Kathy (John) Carey, his grandchildren Josh (Jennifer) McCabe, Shea (Joe) Pool, Michael (Elizabeth) Kelley, Sarah (Daniel Garcia) Kelley, Max Croce, Nick Croce, Tim (Caroline) Carey, Grace (Alex) Gensler, and Jim Carey. He was a beloved great-grandfather, brother-in-law, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation is on Friday, February 17, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 1424 First Capitol Drive South, St. Charles, MO 63303, followed by Mass of Christian Burial. Family and friends are invited to the Celebration of John’s Life in the church hall after Mass.

John served in the US Marine Corps and will be interned at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The family is extremely grateful to those who provided care during John’s battle with multiple myeloma: cancer care provided by Dr. Christiane Zoghbi and her staff at SSM Health Medical Group, the hospice services provided by Visiting Nurse Association, and the 24-hour private duty care provided by Help Is On The Way Home Health Care. All those who assisted were caring and compassionate, allowing John to pass peacefully at home.

John was a wonderful man and neighbor. I always enjoyed visiting with him on his morning walks with his beloved dogs. He always had a kind word for everyone along with his infectious smile. Rest well my friend, you’ll certainly be missed but not forgotten.

Much love to the family at this time of sadness at the separation of his spirit from their daily lives. Although knowing how John was such a wonderful person to all he met will give much comfort it is with deep condolences I leave this message especially for JoAnn who never left his side during his illness.

Jo Ann, it was a pleasure meeting and assisting you and John. Watching you two interact was inspirational to me. It was shocking to learn the news of transition. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your entire family during this time of bereavement.
