Barbara Forsyth
CHESTERFIELD, MO – Barbara Bild Forsyth, 76, passed away, Thursday, August 29, 2013, in Chesterfield.
Born Barbara Ann Bild on Nov. 15, 1936, at Miami, FL, she was the daughter of
Dr. Charles E. Bild and Helen A. Bild. She graduated from Miami Edison High School, Miami, FL, in 1955. She graduated from the University of Florida in 1959 with a degree in Elementary Education. She received her MRE from Union Theological Seminary in New York City.
Barbara was the Director of Christian Education at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Columbia, SC and then at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Mountain Brook, AL (the largest Episcopal church in the Diocese of AL). Brooke and Barbara met at St. Luke’s and were married on a Sunday morning during church service, July 4, 1971. She obtained her real estate license when they lived in Charlotte, NC. While in Charlotte, she was an avid gardener and chaired the flower show at the Southern Living Home & Garden Show, which was the largest in the magazine’s history at that time.
For 25 years she was the creative director and was a business partner with her husband in Paper & Ink, Westport, MO (a printing business.)
Barbara was very involved church and social outreach in North Carolina. Besides gardening, she also enjoyed flower arranging, was an expert seamstress and loved dogs.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Brooke H. Forsyth; one sister, Mrs. Nancy (Robert) Wiley, Franklin, NC; one niece and four nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in her honor to The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
The service will be at 11 am Saturday, September 7th at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 1166 S. Mason Road, Town & Country, MO 63131. Her ashes will be scattered at a later date in the mountains in Franklin North Carolina.
