Rhyne, Barbara Ann (Willis) 74, died on May 21, 2018. She will be remembered as a beloved sister to Kathy Willis; a mother of two sons, Chris (Nancy) and David (Jackie); a grandmother to Christopher, Madison and Rebekah; and a best friend to many. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, dry sense of humor, incredible cooking, and unyielding optimism.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri to parents Jacob and Dorothy Willis. Graduated from Rosati-Kain, Class of 1961 with high honors. After retiring from secretarial and regulatory work, Barbara pursued the greater enjoyment of her grandchildren, including playtime games like Guys, Mean Barbies, and Max & Jack Jack. She regularly entertained her grandchildren with stories of how she was a goalie for the St. Louis Blues, wrote the Star Spangled Banner, and flew missions as an Air Force Pilot.
She volunteered at many organizations that matched her other loves in life. As an avid reader, she helped with the YMCA Bookfair. She loved musicals and ushered at the Fabulous Fox. Her love of country and service led her to become Secretary for the Pvt George Phillips Marine Corps League Auxiliary and volunteer at the United States Department of Veteran Affairs.
Donations in Barb’s memory can be made to Pvt George Phillips Detachment Marine Corps League, P.O. Box #1 Ballwin, MO 63022. A celebration of life will be on Thursday, June 7, from 4-8 pm at Andre’s Banquet Center, 4254 Telegraph Road, St. Louis, MO 63129.
Dear Chris, Nancy, Christopher, and Madison,
Our deepest condolences for your family’s loss. Knowing that Barb is at rest brings comfort, but does not make it easy. Please know are all here for you if there is anything you need.
A donation in the amount of $225.00 has been made to the PVT George Phillips Detachment Marine Corps League from the team in Barbs memory.
All our Love, and God Bless you all.
The Carondelet Y Service Club truly mourns the loss of such a beautiful and delightful person. Barb was a wonderful Book Fair Volunteer and a member (Secretary) of our club for quite a few years. We regret not knowing about her death since she used to update us online and talk with fellow members throughout the last couple of years as she battled cancer (again). Our thoughts are with the two sons and grandchildren.
