Bruce Edward Haig

Bruce Edward Haig, age 90, passed away on July 21, 2024, in Eureka, Missouri. Born on February 28, 1934, in Saint Louis, Missouri to Donald D. and Hertha K. (Levy) Haig. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Donald (Rita) Haig, Jr., Douglas (Charlene) Haig, Dennis (Marilyn) Haig, and Nancy (Jerry) Bedford.

Bruce was a loving husband of 63 years to the late Josephine (nee Palumbo) and doting father to Beth (late Tom) Seright, Mary (Bill) Dudley, Scott (Joe Pena) Haig, and Lisa (John) Costello. Grandfather of Jennifer Seright, Anna (Matt) Aiazzi , Alayna Costello and Jack Costello. Great Grandfather of Michael, Thomas and Arthur Aiazzi.

An avid golfer and tennis player, Bruce loved to ride his bike and was known to enjoy a hot game of poker or gin at a moment’s notice. He was a founding member (and instigator) of the OLS Over Thirty Men’s Softball team, a group of wonderful and partying men, who, along with their families, became friends for life.

Bruce spent his life dedicated to his community and family. He was a mentor not only to his family but to all the kids he coached, chaperoned or just plain enjoyed and welcomed to his home. Bruce was usually the last person to leave any party. And to say that Bruce enjoyed life is an understatement. He will be missed by many.

A memorial Mass will be held on August 17, 2024, at

Our Lady of Sorrows Church

5020 Rhodes Avenue

Saint Louis, Missouri 63109

The Mass will commence at 10:00 a.m. preceded by visiting with the family beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The Haig family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the employees and residents of Allegro Senior Living who welcomed our Dad with open arms and watched over him like family. “You” were his favorites!

And a special note of gratitude goes to the Home/Visiting Nurses Association for their wonderful care of Bruce while in hospice.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Louis Kidney Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association of Missouri. These organizations reflect causes that were significant to Bruce, and the family encourages donations in his memory.

Will never forget my Uncle Bruce and his wonderful sense of humor. He was an amazing Husband to my Aunt Jo, and Father to my Cousins, Beth, Mary, Scott and Lisa and Grandfather as well. I have lovely memories I cherish with the Haig family. I know he is in Heaven with all of his/our loved ones and is at peace. Sending much love and prayers to my dear Cousins and family.

What an awesome man Bruce was…now this is the only time I will ever call him Bruce! He was always Mr. Haig to me! Loved him when he was there with the Sorrows bunch chaperoning, OLS Follies productions, or just hanging around with all the other ‘grown-ups’ while us kids watched.

He is now home with Josephine (Mrs. Haig) and family. Our Prayers are with him eternally! Godspeed Mr. Haig!

I remember nonstop late night laughter as a child listening to Uncle Bruce, Aunt Jo, my mother Nancy (his sister), and my father Jim playing some game. Who could sleep as a child listening to the Haig and Wrigley parents have so much fun!

God is with you, and you went home with, your Haig Family!
