I am so sad about Carl’s death. We are good friends who met through music. I have known him for many years. He often came to hear my jazz group. I know that music has often helped Carl with his Bipolar issues. He took piano lessons from me for awhile. We had been talking on the phone and I knew of his kidney failure. Unfortunately I was not able to visit him since Covid 19 because I have several health problems myself. When I couldn’t get a hold of him on his cell, I knew it was a possibility that he had left us. I will miss his very interesting views on life and many great conversations. He told me in one of our last conversations that I should not feel sad that he was dying, that he had lived a very good life and was OK with moving on. Several years ago his brother painted a beautiful jazzy portrait of me playing music. It is hanging in my teaching studio and the students love it! Carl gave it to me for my birthday years ago. It will always be there to remind me of him. Carl was a unique light in the world and I will miss him. My sincere condolences to Cynthia, Joyce and all the family.
