Residences: St. Louis, MO. Formerly of Daleville, Vinton, and Roanoke, VA; Wheaton, Aurora, and Carbondale, IL; Tuscaloosa, AL; St. Louis; Watertown, WI; and Valparaiso and Indianapolis, IN.
Preceded in death by her beloved mother and father, Charlotte and Henry Stoeppelwerth, and niece and nephew-in-law, Kristine and Erik Schuman.
Survivors include: Twin children: Kimberly (Kurt Schreyer) Broker of St. Louis; and Ryan (Crystal Ramm) Broker of Ord, NE and their children: Ethan, Julia, Naomi, and Charlotte Broker, and Tenley Ramm; Sister and nephew: Beatrice and Timothy Schumann of Bradenton, FL.
Carol was a compassionate person who cultivated qualities of self-sacrifice, truthfulness, and loving-kindness. Uncommonly friendly, she focused her gifts of organization and clarity to help ordinary people through ordinary and extraordinary circumstances. As a child of God, she loved His creatures and looked for daily signs of His infinite love. Carol cherished her children and grandchildren and treasured her friends.

It was joy to know Carol and she will be missed here in Roanoke and in our office. Our prayers and condolences are being sent to Ryan and Kim and the entire family!
What a beautiful lady. I admired her kindness, grace and positivity. My life was richer for having her in it. She will truly be missed. Thoughts and prayers for her family.
Carol was my best friend. She was there for me through many trials and tribulations. I will miss our long conversations about anything and everything. She was the best! I will miss her every day.

Condolences from your mother’s many friends in Carbondale, IL. She was a gracious, talented woman, and a wonderful mother to her twins. We have memories of the day you two were born, January 1.
I also remember one February Sunday when Carbondale had a terrible snow storm, Carol and your dad drove into Carbondale with their babies, only to decide that the worship service should be called off due to the weather and road conditions.
We are sorry your lost your dear mother, and we, former All Saints’ members, send you and yours our deepest sympathy at this sad time.

Kim and Ryan, I am so sorry for your loss. My prayer is that God will provide you the peace and comfort you need in this trying time. You probably do not recognize my name because you were just a couple of years old when we met in Carbondale. Your Mom and Dad had a dog named Franklin. He didn’t like your screaming and pulling of his hair, so they decided to see if they could find a home for him. I was the lucky person who got him. And he lived to be 17 years old. He and I bonded very well, and I’m so happy he was in my life. And I am happy that your parents were in my life, too. They made it richer.
Your Dad and I both worked in what was then the School of Technical Careers. May God provide you the peace and comfort only he can provide.
