Charles Henry Law, Sr.

Charles Henry Law, Sr. was born January 6, 1932, in Atlanta, Georgia to ElgieLee Talley-Law & Hubert Law (both deceased). ElgieLee and Charles relocated to Cleveland, Ohio when he was young. Later ElgieLee remarried Ernest Davis and one son was born from that union Larry Davis.

While attending Central Junior High school he met the love of his life Dorothy May-Molinda Maxwell also known as Dot or Dottie. At the time Charles was a well known track star and he instantly took an interest in Dot. They soon got to know each other and were affectionately known around the school as Ham & Eggs, because you never saw one without the other.

He had many privileges, one of being assistant elder as they then known, at the Ashland Congregation & South Congregation. He also assisted with security during the District conventions. He & Dot relocated to California where he served as an elder in the Viewpark Congregation and they were there for 5 years then they relocated to Gulf Breeze, Florida. He served as an elder in the Gulf Breeze Congregation and there in Pensacola, Florida at the Belleview Congregation due to an illness in the family. Several years later for health reasons they relocated to St. Louis, Missouri to be closer to family and after 3 & a half years Dottie passed. Though this was a horrible blow to his life he never let that stop him from serving as an elder in the Park Avenue Congregation and in the ministry.

Everywhere they relocated they were truly loved by the friends and always had a house full of visitors. Charles loved football, and was an avid watcher of the game, he was very proficient at playing pool, roller skating, and of course his love of track and field never died down. He loved playing cards, and enjoyed spending time with friends. He loved and cherished the field of ministry especially the carts even when sick and with a walker he wanted to go do the carts. He loved informal witnessing, so he started a Bible study with his home healthcare aide.

Charles became a mild mannered humble man due to his studying and deep research. He would always ask the friends questions especially while conducting the watchtower to make them think and they would want to do the research to find the answers. He loved getting to the meetings early to greet the friends young and old, outgoing or shy. He was there and he wanted to make sure they were doing okay. He affectionately became known as Brother Law the official greeter.

Charles passed away January 3, 2024 at almost 92 years of age. He will be dearly missed by all he and DOT aided into the truth and the rest of the friends and family. He leaves to mourn son’s Charles (Chuck) Law, Jr.; Michael (Mary); Shirley (Ronald deceased). Daughters Toni L. Crider (Don); DeeDee Gyulay (David deceased); sister in law Donna (Larry deceased); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nephews, cousins and over 8 million spiritual family members.

So sorry to hear, we are on the threshold of what your mom and dad believed and taught you. We don’t have long to wait, who would have thought when we were kids we’d find ourselves in this position, family, continue to rely on Jehovah

Brother Law was like a father to me. I could call him and ask a spiritual question anytime or if was in need of anything monitory, I could count in my spiritual father. Love his spiritual daughter. Sharon Vence.

    Oh where do I begin…🥺
Brother Law has taught and encouraged me more than he will ever know.🥹
Thinking back on my 17 yrs coming to the Hall, he has been present or involved in special times & times of correction in my life. 👨‍🏫

I remember how he and I would often meet each other at the back of the Hall to share a humorous point in the Watch Tower lesson for that day.😁 He would alway put forth much effort to call on news hands during the study too. 📖

Oh, how I enjoyed how he would quiz us during his meeting parts and not just give us the answer.
He was my precious, valuable, priceless GrandPa!!! 🎩

Can’t wait to give him a Hugh bear 🐻 hug in Jehovah’s New World and to meet his dear wife!!!!!!!💛
    I love him sooooo much!!!❤️‍🔥

To Dee, just thought i would express my thoughts. After coming to know Brother Law , i came to love and admire him. We spent a number of times doing cart witnessing . He was a great partner , had many discussions and memories of his past. I am sure in the new world we will meet again. Dee may Jehovah continue to be your source of faith strength encouragement, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
