Christie Overy
In Loving Memory of Christie Ann Overy
Christie Overy, 68, passed away peacefully at her home on September 24th, 2021 while holding the hand of her daughter, Allison Overy, and in the company of her beloved husband, Craig Overy.
Christie Overy took her final breath the moment Craig finished playing “I’m Confessing (That I Love You),” a song about unconditional love. To know Christie was to know the epitome and embodiment of love without boundaries, limitations, or conditions.
When one thinks about unconditional love, one tends to think about loving others through mistakes, hardships, and frustrations. Christie, of course, did all of these things. Through her words and her actions, she offered love, compassion, connection, and understanding to all who knew her.
But Christe’s love was a layer deeper. Many think of unconditional love as love without limits to others, but unconditional love applies to ourselves. Christie loved others generously and graciously regardless of what was occurring within her own life. Her love was not conditional; she did not need her life to be perfect or to be having a good day just to extend love and kindness to others. Christie’s love was infinite and measureless.
To know Christie was to also know that a chapter of her life story involved 12 years of living resiliently with cancer. The past 12 years have been fraught with surgeries, scans, and medicines. The process was relentless. Those who knew her journey were in awe of her dedication and persistence to pursue treatment – even in the face of dire results. What Christie endured was nothing short of draining on multiple levels – physically, mentally, and emotionally. Regardless of the challenges she faced, she never lost touch with who she was at her core. Cancer was a word and not a life sentence. Even amidst the turmoil and discomfort that surrounded her, Christie loved generously and courageously despite her external circumstances.
Christie’s love attracted others into her life who loved her without conditions. Namely, Christie’s husband, Craig Overy of 34 years. Christie’s influence and love live on with her precious family. She is survived by her husband, Craig Overy, and her three children: Eric Parrish (Kathy), Brendan Overy, and Allison Overy. Her grandson: Logan Parrish. Her siblings: Claudia Holstein (Fred), Karen Wittich (Jim), Robert Knobbe (Beth), Gregory Knobbe (Debbie), Michael Knobbe. Along with many cousins, nephews and nieces, and great-nephews and great-nieces.
Christie is preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Ottilia Knobbe, and her brother, Mark Knobbe.
Please join us in celebrating Christie’s life and her legacy on October 4th, 2021 at The Gathering Church – McCausland (2360 McCausland Ave, St. Louis, MO), at 10 AM. A separate Celebration of Life Reception will be held on Sunday, October 10th at Vlasis Park – Pavilion #1, from 11 AM to 4 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Louis Cancer and Breast Institute through The Hope Foundation for Cancer Research .

Overy family,
I am so sorry to hear of Christie’s passing. She is now at peace with her God. I loved working with Christie at Gwin’s. We had so many fun times together. Our families got together for picnics at Susan park, Keith and Brendan played soccer together. I cherish the memories I have. She visited me in my dreams last night. I wish I would have visited her before she passed. My prayers will be with you. ❤️🙏🏻
