David Blanke
David L. Blanke, 90, Kirkwood, passed away in his home on Friday, December 3rd.
David was the son of Sidney S. Blanke and Margaret M. Blanke, nee Metz. He was born in St. Genevieve on December 14, 1930. He graduated from University City High School and joined the Navy in 1951. He was honorably discharged in 1955. He married Patricia J. Cortopassi on January 2nd, 1958. They lived in Bridgeton, Creve Coeur, Clayton and Kirkwood.
David made his living as a salesman, first at Brown Shoe Co. for 28 years and then at Becker Hat & Glove until he retired. He was also a phenomenal artist and spent much of his free time sketching intricate designs in pencil. He was an avid Cardinals fan and loved fishing in earlier times. His favorite pastime was gambling with his friends at the casino.
He was preceded in death by Patricia, his parents and his sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Norman Klayman. He is survived by his children, Toni (Dennis) Cavin of Washington, Mo. and Brett (Linda) Blanke of Las Vegas, Nv, 8 grandchildren and step-grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
At his request, he was cremated by St. Louis Cremation and will be buried at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery during a private service.
