Deborah A. Shanker
Debbie Shanker, 63, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, surrounded by her family that she cherished. Debbie was the heart of her family and dedicated her time to raising two sons, Dr. Benjamin Shanker and Jonathan Shanker, both successful men, along with her husband of 32 years, Dr. Brad Shanker. Debbie loved cooking elaborate meals for her family, including her mother MaryAnn Clark, stepfather Woody Clark and brother Mike Smith. Debbie was passionate about art, and enjoyed collecting pieces with Brad that decorate their home and sharing a glass of wine. Debbie was an avid runner and enjoyed daily exercise and walking her beloved dog, CiCi Shanker. Debbie loved gardening, travel, watching sports, and entertaining. She will be remembered for volunteering at Bellerive School Library, attending her sons’ events, her elegant entertaining, and for her kindness.

RIP Debbie, I’ll always have the fun memories of us going shopping for Brad’s pop tarts and how you couldn’t stop dancing at my wedding. Thanks for everything Debbie and I’m sending positive vibes to Brad and the boys.
We have so many wonderful memories of Debbie. She was a wonderful person. We can remember her dancing at many of the parties we attended. She was always such a warm, kind and caring person.

We enjoyed many dinners, celebrations, conversations, and good times with you and Debbie at Bldg. 201, the home of Dr.Steven and Julie Baak.
Marlene and I remember our former Pastor, Msgr. Schneider and Temple Shaare Emeth’s Rabbi Emeritus Shipman who annually invited the youth’s to St. Monica Church and Temple Shaare Emeth to listen to each others teachings.
As Catholics, Marlene and I attend Mass daily.There is a special prayer during the Mass where we remember those who have fallen asleep. So Debbie and Steve are remembered daily.

Debbie was an incredibly kind and charismatic person. She never met a stranger and always made everyone around her feel welcome. She will be missed.

Debbie, I only knew you for 5 years, but I loved our get togethers with the Runny Meade women. It was always a treat to be with you, and I especially enjoyed watching you heap love on CiCi.
