Dennis “Denny” Hugo Struckhoff

Dennis “Denny” Hugo Struckhoff, of St. Charles, MO, born July 17, 1944, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020, at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Nancy (Ann) Struckhoff (nee Reust); dear son of late Orville and Geneva Struckhoff; devoted father of four great children Ken Struckhoff, Adam Struckhoff, Eric Struckhoff and Gretchen Struckhoff; blessed with two wonderful daughters-in-law Karen and Carla; loving grandfather of Dani, Kenzie, Auggie, Ryley, Kaiser and Maddox; treasured brother of Bob (late Connie) Struckhoff, Charley (Margie) Struckhoff, Lee (Nancy Lee) Struckhoff and the late Ken (late Sherrie) Struckhoff; beloved uncle and friend of many and cherished cousin of June Gildehaus.

Denny married his love, Nancy, and they were together for 54 years. His biggest delight in life was being Grandpa “Pop” to his six incredible grandchildren.

Denny served in the United States Army for three years. He ran an upholstery shop for 44 years where his creative talents were put on full display for thousands of people to experience and enjoy. He loved his trips to Jupiter for Cardinals Spring Training. And when he wasn’t rooting on the Cardinals, that booming voice of his was cheering on some Billikens basketball.

Denny was so dearly loved by many and he, along with his strong, comforting hugs, will be missed by all.

A memorial mass is scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday, January 23rd, at Saint Charles Borromeo Parish, St. Charles, Mo. (SCB Parish | Home Page (borromeoparish.com)).

We will be practicing social distancing, and masks must be worn inside the church at all times. Please respect all COVID-19 restrictions, and if you are experiencing any symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath etc. please do not attend. We will be hosting an outdoor celebration of Denny’s life sometime early this summer where hopefully we can all be together.

This short, but wonderful, obituary could never be long enough to express how much Denny meant to this family. Not even to mention the many, many friends whom he opened his heart and home to on a regular basis. Nancy, Gretchen, Adam, Kenny and Eric: I love you all and can’t wait to talk and laugh about memories of my beloved uncle at the mass and memorial.

I send my sympathy to Nancy and all of the family. Denny was a wonderful person, a delight to be with. You always had a great time when you were with him. I only saw him at weddings and other peoples funerals after I quite playing softball and moved out of St. Charles. But each time our paths cross was delightful. He went too soon, but he left his mark on the memories and hearts of those who knew him.

Denny was not only a friend, we considered Denny and Nancy Family. We always looked forward to our visits to our son’s home, who incidentally, is Denny and Nancy’s neighbor. It was such a pleasure having them in our lives. We will truly miss Denny’s wit and humor. Also our New Years feast. We are deeply saddened by his passing, there will be a tremendous void in our lives without this extraordinary man. Rest In Peace our treasured friend. Until we meet again.❤️???? I’m so sorry to have heard about the passing of Mr. Struckhoff. I remember being in the house and seeing the upholstery business in the back thinking it was so cool that he worked his job at his home! Hugs to all the the Struckhoff’s!

I know this is terribly late but I had no idea that Denny had passed. I now live near St. James, Missouri, and don’t hear much from old friends in St. Charles area. What a shock!! He was such a GREAT guy and friend. Had many wonderful times at softball games and bar-b-qs with him that I will never experience again. Never said bad things about anyone (unless deserved), seemed like he was always smiling, great joke teller and just made a person feel better by his being there. He loved you Nancy and all of his kids that are now adults themselves. He cannot be replaced in this earthly life and I hope I’m lucky enough to meet him again on the inside of those golden gates in heaven. We’ll all have another toast of beer, whiskey or wine in his honor. Can’t express how sorry I am in words and how much he will be missed!
