Donald Hagan

We will miss our father so much and I will only be able to describe just a small portion of his life. He loved his family very much and did the best he could do to take care of us and was there to help others along the way. He was the last of his siblings to survive and it was a challenge to keep going with all the loss that he had gone through, he was stronger than what he thought. He loved joking around having a good laugh. We heard stories of his childhood and with hearing these stories of those different times…Wow Amazing! We are so spoiled these days. He was a Truck driver for many years and enjoyed doing that until he retired, thought he should quit while he was ahead with no bad accidents. We had a Ceramic Shop and he would pour the molds for the shop and believe it or not enjoyed doing that. Seeing the finished pieces my Mother and I would paint… He would brag alot about us. He loved the game of Baseball and even played the game as a young man. He was the catcher and apparently a good one. You would of never wiped the smile off his face if even one of his sons would of made it in Baseball! In school Dad and his twin brother Jerry were into sports, Basketball being one of them. There was even a article in the paper on how the “Hagan Brothers beat Berkeley” pretty neat! And “Cars” he was always looking in the car lots not really buying “just looking”, it was just a passion for him. If you ever met him you always remembered his smile and his kindness… he was a sweet, wonderful person. He helped us through our struggles in life and wanted to do what he could. He was someone who helped shape us into the adults we are today. Lossing our Mother/his Wife Jay-del almost 3 yrs. ago laid so heavy on his heart…he was heartbroken. Struggling to keep on going, trying to keep a purpose in his life where he thought he had no more purpose. The loneliness just got to him and could only think of being with her. So he is now happy and we will miss him so very much. Don’t know if this is odd but as a twin they say there is a certain connection there and his brother Jerry had also passed on Christmas Eve and from what I heard around the same time of the morning, 15 yrs. ago. Guess they were all calling him home.

Dad you are such a good fun loving man and I respected you so much. I will miss our Wednesday dinner dates. We all love you very much.

Your Children- Teresa, Jeff and Jim

    Teresa, Jeff & Jim,
I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. He was a wonderful man and in the past couple of years since your mom has been gone my family had taken him in as one of our own. I know my Mom & Dad really enjoyed spending time with Don, delivering dinners to him or inviting him to dine out with our family. He was always a pleasure to be around.
I remember shortly after your mom passed & we all had dinner together. My husband probably hadn’t seen him since our wedding & I re-introduced them. Then your dad started telling me something like…if you think you are in love now just wait until you are older and you will love each other even more with every year that passes by. I wish I could remember his exact words, but something to that point. And it was clear that he loved your mom very much and I’m sure he is very happy to be in heaven with her again.
