Douglas Holden
Douglas Alfred Holden was born on July 16, 1965 in Shelby, MI to father Frederick E. Holden and mother Alfreida P. (Carr) Holden. The youngest of three children by nine years, Doug was a creative and kind boy, making lifetime friends throughout elementary and high school. He graduated from Mason Country Central High School in 1983 and went on to the Dayton Ohio Institute of Photography and Technology for a degree in IT Project Management in 1985. He later returned to school at Lindenwood University and graduated with highest distinction, Summa Cum Laude in IT Project Management in 2013.
Doug would eventually make his home in St. Louis, MO where he met his wife, Lillian. They were married in May of 2008, surrounded by family in Scottville, MI. Not only did Doug find his soulmate and gain a life partner, he also gained a daughter in three -year – old Jessica DeMoor. Jessica would call Doug “Douggie Baba” and over the years the two developed a special bond, reading books and watching movies together. One of Doug’s greatest wishes in life was to have a child of his own, Doug and Lillian brought their son Alexander Ervin Holden into the world, which has been a blessing to all the family.
Always drawn to creative and technological careers and pursuits, Doug was the Director of Engineering at Our365 Newborn Photography from 1992 to 2020. Doug was always there to support his coworkers and family and would always make people laugh with his great sense of humor. He always wanted his family to support each other and grow together. We can always remember all the memories we shared with him and will never forget his smile, sense of humor, and the light he brought to the world and everyone he encountered.
Doug is preceded in death by his father Frederick E. Holden and his nephew Frederick M. Holden, grandparents and aunts and uncles. I moved from Texas to Scottsville, Michigan and being from Texas we made Homemade Ice Cream and invited Doug and his mother over.
This was the first time Doug had ever seen how we made home made ice cream so we let him turn the handle on the freezer bucket.
When it was made made, we all had a bowl of vanilla ice cream and it being a hot day it melted fast.
When Doug ate all the hard ice cream and there was melted ice cream in the bowl he ask his mother, what do I do with this soup.
