Duane A. Boyd
On the evening of Monday, August 5, 2019, Duane A. Boyd, loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, and Uncle, passed away at the age of 71.
A little D.A.B. was never enough for Duane. Thinking back over the many memories of him and with him, just a little didn’t usually fit. Married his Love before age 21 and celebrated 50 years together this past November. Occasional church member? No, he was one of the most involved in the congregation. Spent 20 years with IBM followed by Allied Healthcare as Director of I.T. with his love for technology and Proud Marine. Semper Fi!
Duane is survived by that young bride, Jane Stallard Boyd, his son Dave and grandkids Max, Jake and Kate, daughter Sarah (Matt) Perotka and grandkids Sami, Wes and Ben. Duane’s brother Grant (Mary), nieces Beth Dotson and Becky (Lawrence) Trokey and their families. Duane is preceded in death by his wonderful and dedicated parents Noble Grant and Wilma Beth Green Boyd. And we can’t leave out their beloved dog ChiChi who laid by his side, between his knees, above his head, wherever she could make a spot.
Born February 1, 1948, Duane started his life in St Louis, Missouri. Raised in a loving Christian home, he spent many years at church camps as a child moving on to graduating from St. Louis Christian College, attending graduate school at Lincoln Christian College, and then joining the Marine Corps Active Reserves for 8 ½ years. True passion was in leading Sunday School, holding positions on church boards and leading worship for more years than most can count. His motorcycles and sports cars kept him young at heart as long as possible. Those hot rods turned into power chairs that he could still have fun with, giving grandkids rides all around and showing off all his tricks.
With his additional passions for photography, nature, travel and technology, Duane enjoyed life with Jane taking cruises, golfing and shooting lots of targets at the range. As we say goodbye we are confident he is playing those greens and singing with the angels once again with all the grace we now will remember in his younger body.
Visitation service will be held on Saturday August 10th at Wildwood Christian Church from 11-1 with Memorial Service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Duane’s honor to St. Louis Christian College or High Hill Christian Camp & Retreat Center.
