Elizabeth “Betty” Anders
Elizabeth “Betty” Anders passed away on March 8th, 2019 at Delmar Gardens West in Town and Country, MO. Betty was born October 3, 1933 in St. Louis, MO. She married Dale Anders on February 16, 1952. Together they have 7 children, 21 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
Betty owned LUMS restaurant in Cahokia, IL. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Cahokia, IL before moving to Jefferson City, MO. Betty loved to craft, sew, cook, bake, and camp. When Betty moved to Delmar Gardens, along with Dale, they taught adult coloring classes and won volunteer of the year for all they do. Betty won a couple of contests for her coloring and was published in a couple of calendars. Betty knew no stranger, everyone was family to her. She welcomed you with open arms and a big hug.
Betty is survived by her husband, Dale, of 67 years, son Larry (Linda) Anders of Springfield, IL, daughter Diane (Fritz) Pierce, Fayetville, IL, son David (Melody) Anders of Lake Alfred, Florida, daughter Nancy Montgomery of Jefferson City, MO, daughter Ann (Dennis) Pustinger of Orlando, Florida, daughter Penny (Gene) Riley of Columbia, MO, daughter Sharon (Mike) Manning of Mt. Zion, IL, and many grandchildren.
Betty is proceeded in death by her parents Otto and Bertha Hager and 3 brothers Harold, Carl, Otto (Bugs) Jr Hager.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 30, 2019 at Delmar Gardens West in Chesterfield, MO.
I love you mom. I’m gonna miss you terribly, but I will join you again someday. I know you have your wings and are in a special place that is pain free and peaceful. It’s time to rest now.
When I think of a passage in the Bible to describe my Grandma, the first that comes to mind is Proverbs 31:28-29. “Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou exceedeth them all.” We will miss her dearly, but our hope is in Jesus–the same faith that she has passed on to the generations.
Mom, I am sorry I did not keep my promise to you and was not with you in the end. I hope you know how much I loved you. I will always hold you close to my heart and wish I could have done more for you. Thanks for all the fried potatoes. You made them better than anyone.

Grandma, as hard as it is to see you go, I find comfort in knowing you are healed and with loved ones who have gone before us. I love you and can’t wait to see you again.
Mom, I love you so very much. I feel so blessed that we have had you in our lives for so very long. I have truly loved these past years where we have gotten to spend so much great time together. I struggle knowing I will not have those moments ever again. But I am so grateful you are no longer in pain and suffering. You were without a doubt the strongest woman I have ever known in my life. Give all our loved ones there with you a big hug for me! Rest in Peace and we will see each other again one day, I’m sure!!
I love you so much, mom. I feel we have been so blessed to have had you in our lives for so very long. That doesn’t take away that it is so hard to know we will not be able to talk with you again, or give you that hug and kiss. No matter how we think we have prepared, the reality is so different. I am so grateful that I have had these last years to spend so much time with you. I am so happy that you are no longer having to suffer and fight the tough fight. You are without a doubt the strongest woman I have ever known in my life! We are all so happy you are finally able to be with your parents and brothers. Give them all a big hug from me! Grandma Anders, it’s said in restaurants that the kitchen is “the heart of the house”. Well you were the heart of our family. Every single memory I have of you is a good one. You were the best. I’ll aways miss you. I love you.
Mom. I am going to miss you so much. You was such a wonderful mother in law to me. I will miss the hugs and back rubs from you they was special things that I received from you. The last time I saw you , you told me before I left that I was one of your good girls. Made me feel so special. Love you so much. Fly high with the angels till we meet again.
