Eric Matthew Fix
FIX, Eric Matthew, ”Fix”, age 50, passed away unexpectedly from an aortic dissection Saturday, August 31, 2019 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Saint Louis, MO.
Eric was born January 11, 1969 to Edward W. Fix and Barbara J. Fix (Jennings) in Saint Louis, MO.
He was a graduate of SLU High School and received his BA from Missouri State University. Eric was a Delta Upsilon fraternity member.
Before running his Alternatives Insurance agency, he worked for many years in the mortgage industry.
Eric married in 2016 to Angie Boesch. They both met as teenagers working at York Steak House located within the Crestwood Mall.
Eric, known by his many lifelong friends as simply “Fix”, was a man with an undeniable spirit, capable of bringing laughter to most anyone he met. He was jovial through even his hardest struggles and had an uncanny ability to forget the wrongs of yesterday and live in the present. He preferred to move on and look to the future rather than dwell on the past.
He fostered a strong appreciation for theatre from his parents and had several memorable performances in his youth, most notably singing Gary Indiana. He continued his love of the theatre as a frequent visitor to the Muny. He shared this love with his oldest niece, Courtney, and allowed her to select which performance to go to annually together.
His greatest passion, however, was music. He enjoyed attending live concerts and sharing his musical knowledge with his many like-minded friends. He valued the camaraderie formed within the many bands he sang with. His voice will be missed by the many who enjoyed hearing him sing, or harmonizing along side him.
Eric was an avid collector of US Large Cents 184-1857. He was a long time member of EAC. He was well respected within the large cent community as a knowledgeable expert on the many varieties and die states. He sold his first collection of over 360 varieties in 2014, but quickly jumped back in to form another notable group of cents.
Eric engaged in several social sports: golfing, bowling and darting. During each, he has formed many strong bonds with other players. Additionally, his wealth of useless and incomparable music knowledge made him a valuable asset at frequented trivia events, yet he often had difficulty even remembering the names of his most loyal customers.
Eric is survived by his wife, Angie Boesch, step-son, Cody Reichold, parents, Edward and Barbara (Jennings), sister & brother-in-law, John and Angela Haid and adored nieces/nephew, Courtney, Brandon and Carly.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth’s in Crestwood, MO, September 21st at 11:00 am with a visitation luncheon to immediately follow. Their annual Septemberfest celebration begins at 5:30 pm to conclude.

We will miss your wit, humor, and overall personality! We love you and we will do our best to take care of Angelina❤️❤️!
I still can hardly believe you’re gone. Life without Fix, well it just doesn’t compute. You have been our sons best friend Since kindergarten. To us you were a member of our family and was cherished and loved dearly. Not sure that life will ever be the same for any of us. You will be so missed by so many. Mary and Jim Engel
Wow Fix what a shock to hear of your passing! We haven’t stayed in touch too much since you left working for me in the 90s. But whenever we reunited you were always jovial and hilarious as we picked up wherever we left off as if no time had elapsed. Including but not limited to the June Carter Cash impersonation guild jokes we always made about -you know who! Lol. Love you buddy and so sad for all the loved ones you leave behind- myself included. Rest easy- and laugh and love in eternity- see you soon again someday.
Eric Fix was a client and one that I looked forward to seeing each and every time. Mostly due to the things written above which I could see in his personality. In our last meeting two weeks ago I was trying to brainstorm ideas on how to grow his business. Little did I know the number of people he had touched in his life and how many profound relationships that he had around St. Louis until after his death. He was a pleasure to work with and I have an emptiness with his premature departure. Fix will be missed.
I met Fix in high school and had countless laughs and GREAT times with him for sure – he was a blast! Our junior year of high school, me, Rick, and Fix went to Florida – I remember that trip like it was yesterday, what a time we had!!! I can still see Fix, Art, Ron, and Kurt singing at York Steak House while they were flipping Classic American’s (with cheese) in the shadow of the late “Big Hearted Bob”. Where in the hell has the time gone? I miss those days so much but have never forgotten them, and NEVER will. Our late night meetings on Red Level, Tom’s house parties, late nights at York doing trash runs, and the countless laughs and “buzzes” we shared are forged in my memory forever! Unfortunately, I have lost touch with many of those GREAT FRIENDS from high school and I deeply regret that now! I only wish I could go back and have one more beer with Fix……He was an amazing guy, and LOVED by all.
The Fix I remember is the kid that sung Gary, Indiana and wore a bow tie. Always with a smile. Everyone will miss you, Eric.
I will miss my friend from our high school days and my fraternity brother from college greatly. Every time I hear someone say sarcastically the words “swell, fantastic, or oh Good Lord” I will think of him and smile but a part of me will feel the pain of his loss. I keep re-reading the last text we had a few months ago where he texted me that I should open a store near him because south county was getting younger all the time and I replied “ so you are moving?” And he sarcastically said “real nice!” I will miss your sarcasm brother and the fact you were the only one I could see eye to eye with. Love you brother… til we meet again.
I love the song Gary Indiana! So sorry for this deep , sudden and painful loss.
He was a coin collecting buddy that will be missed. We talked many times at the Early American Coppers Convention over the years. Sorry that you left us so soon.
I looked forward to seeing Eric each year at EAC. He will be missed indeed.
Fixman I am speechless, and after perhaps 2 weeks cannot really comprehend that you are gone. Quick to answer the phone, always happy and upbeat, even when life did not treat him that way. I have a great deal more to say but this will have to suffice for now and I am glad that I finally sent that 46N13 from Bobs coins. I think you should taker it with you!
I too knew Eric from EAC, where many years ago he recognized me on an elevator and extended his friendship. Of all the colleagues I’ve become friends with in that great organization, he was most certainly among the most pleasant and outgoing… always placing camaraderie above competitiveness. It is such a profound loss that he passed while in middle age, having found the love of their life, and having so much for which to look forward. I pray for blessings and comfort for all his loved ones, and am thankful for the many times that he and I had the opportunity to interact together.
Eric was a genuine, humorous, down to earth man! He will be missed. I remember him from back in my Crestwood youth and high school days. Prayers to all his family and friends.
Eric was a great insurance agent. My husband, daughters and son all had policies with him. He was friendly and accepted everyone. My family has yours in our thoughts and prayers.
RIP
OMG I am in such shock right now! Eric will definitely be missed. He was great at his job and he was also an amazing guy! He helped us in every way he could. I am so sad to hear this news!
This world is poorer without you in it, Eric. I’m thankful to have known you for so long. I won’t be in town for your funeral, but I will be there in spirit. Rest in peace, Fix.
