Ernestine Mary Jones

April 9, 1925 – August 7, 2021

Mrs. Ernestine Mary Whitehead Jones was born on April 9, 1925, in Aberdeen, Mississippi. She
was one of eight children born to the late Zadie Whitfield and Russell Whitehead.

Ernestine relocated with her family to St. Louis, Missouri when she was a child. She graduated
from Riddick Elementary School, Sumner High School, and from the Poro College of
Cosmetology.

Ernestine was converted at an early age, baptized by the late Reverend J.A. Parsons, and united
with the New Hebron Baptist Church. When her family relocated to St. Louis, she became a
member of the Greater Fairfax Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend John
D. Haward. After his death she was under the leadership of Reverend Haymond Fortenberry.
At Greater Fairfax Baptist Church, she sang in the Junior Choir, Youth Choir, Senior Choir, and
the Gospel Chorus.

Ernestine was united in Holy Matrimony on August 10, 1951, to the late Lynwood Jones. To this
union Leonard Wayne Jones was born.

Ernestine Jones closed her eyes in eternal sleep on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at her home.

She leaves to cherish loving memories to her son, Leonard, daughter-in-law, Brenda, two
grandchildren, Joy and Aaron (Zenobia), seven great grandchildren: Armonya, Zamia, Aaiona,
Aaron Jnr, Ayron, Ayeru, and Lovve, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Love lives on forever
In each memory and thought
Of the special ones
Who meant so much
And the happiness they brought.
Love lives on forever –
It will never fade away,
For, in our hearts, our loved ones
are with us every day.

We express our heartfelt appreciation for your sympathy, love, and support during this time.
We are so thankful for your thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement.

With Love,
The Jones Family

She is absolutely beautiful. I have the pleasure of being friends with her granddaughter Joy. She has always spoken so sweetly about how much her grandmother means to her. Her legacy will live on forever. You will be in my continued prayers.
