Floyd Timothy Yancey

MARINE, POLICE OFFICER, SPONSOR, FAMILY MAN

On Tuesday May 16, 2023, Floyd (Tim) Yancey passed away peacefully in Eureka, Missouri at the age of 81.

He was born in Fredricktown, Missouri, and was one of five children of Mary Stolte and James Monroe Yancey.

In 1962 Tim joined the Marines 3rd Battalion, 1st and 2nd Divisions.and was deployed to various locations in Southeast Asia. After his time in the Marines, Tim took his military skills to the streets of St. Louis as a St Louis City Police Officer. He retired from the department after a 25-year meritorious career.

Tim and his first wife, Barbara, were among the early members of Alcoholics Anonymous and helped to establish many meetings in Jefferson and Franklin Counties.

Tim is survived by his wife Kathryn (Gleason) Yancey, brother Theodore Yancey, and sister Barbara Lee (Yancey) Kennedy, sons John Yancey (Michele), Mike Yancey (Kendra), Tim Yancey (Sharon), daughter Colleen (Yancey) Cofer (James), and eight grandchildren Lauren (Yancey) Draper (Russell), Samantha (Cofer) Hoene (Bradley), Joseph Yancey (Maggie), Alexis Yancey, Adam Yancey (Emily), Laura Yancey, Matthew Yancey, Katie (Cofer) Smith (Colin) and 9 great-grandchildren.

    Tim and Barb were very special people! They helped so many people in the Eureka area in so many ways!! So sorry to learn of Tim’s recent passing. Prayers for the family.
