Gayle Douglas “Doug” Hite

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Gayle Douglas “Doug” Hite on June 20, 2020. He left us sleeping peacefully at his residence in St. Charles, MO. He had just turned 70 five days prior.

He was the beloved husband of Rita (nee Green), a loving father to Cristine Gentilini (Paul), Brandy Smith (Rob), and Daniel Voorheis (Tona) and Gale Morton. He was a grandfather to Nicholas, Reece, Jordan Lawhorn (Andy), Taylor, Ashley, and Caitlyn, and a great-grandfather to Noah and Charlie.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and great uncle, cousin, and was loved by many, many friends he had made throughout his years of life.

He was predeceased by his mother, father, sister, and brother.

Doug was an avid NASCAR fan and would share stories of his racing days with anyone who would sit long enough to listen. He “turned wretches” his whole life and he could answer most any question you could asked about a car problem.

His love for his family and friends was unwavering. Even during the last days, he was thinking of others and what he could do for them.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Doug on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Joy Community Church, 925 State Hwy K, O’fallon, MO 63366. The church doors will open at 9:00 a.m. with a service commencing at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the service.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to 4 Paws for Ability, 207 Dayton Ave, Xenia, OH 45385, ph. 937-374-0385
