Gerard Thomas Wehrle
Gerard Thomas Wehrle of Weldon Spring, MO died peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at age 55, surrounded by his loving family.
Gerard was born in “Little German” Herman (as he would say) on December 17th, 1962 to Wilfred and Vera Wehrle.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 32 years, Susan (Odlum) Wehrle; his children, Lindsay (Kaare) Utt, Cara (Kyle) Wells, and Brittany Wehrle; and his grandchildren Braden, Avery, and Alexander Utt. Gerard is survived by seven siblings, Alfred, Elaine, Howard, Steve, Jane, Mike, and Debbie. Gerard was the dear uncle, cousin and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as both mother and father in-law.
Gerard owned a small appliance repair company for 27 years. His business thrived on his honest, caring and unparalleled customer service. Anyone who met him knew he was soft-spoken, yet he managed to steal attention with his witty commentary. He was generous, loving, laid-back and a handsome man. He loved the outdoors and spent many days in his garden. Some of his favorite things included drinking coffee in the morning with his wife Sue, taking pictures of nature, eating snickers and peppermints, listening to music, grilling, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He often gave his time and talents generously to those in need.
Gerard was a long-time brain cancer survivor of 20 years as of January 29th, 2018. He continued to defy every timeline given to him by doctors and never gave up his will to live. There’s no doubt a day didn’t go by without thinking about the cancer that ailed him, but you would never know upon meeting him. Gerard would tell you his faith in God and the Catholic religion carried him through the adversity he faced with cancer.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses of Mercy hospice for all the support and care during his last months as well as all the family, friends and neighbors who provided comfort and love to Gerard and his family!!!

Sue & family you have our sympathy and prayers. I knew Gerard as a young man growing up in Hermann. Our mothers were great friends. I feel blessed having known him, what an amazing, loving, caring person, husband, father and grandfather. His beautiful person will live on thru all of you. May he rest peacefully in God’s arms ??

I am so sorry for your loss. May the family find some comfort in knowing that God promises that he will do away with all pain and tears (Revelation 21:4). He also promises that we will see our loved ones again by means of a resurrection (Acts 24:15). But until then, I hope the memories of Gerard and these promises bring comfort in the days ahead. My sincere condolences during this difficult time.

Gerard was without a doubt one of my favorite people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He was so selfless and courageous with everything he had to deal with with his illness. His faith truly inspired me! Sue, he was so blessed to have you all the years he did and toward the end, you never gave up on him!

I will never forget him and our time together at his store in valley park. We had a lot of good times back then . I am so sorry for your Loss .
Sue, I just learned that Gus passed. Bill and I were driving on Highway D and saw the memorial sign. I remembered you guys moved out there many years ago. I hoped it was our “GeraldWehrle” but sadly is was. I see it has been a few years but still must be hard. He was such a great guy and loved you and the girls beyond .Hope you are doing well and this reached you.
