Jack Schofield
Jack Schofield passed away peacefully on November 15, 2015 at the age of 87. He is now reunited with his loving wife, Ida. Jack was born in Garden Village (Stocksbridge), England on December 9, 1927 to Stanley and Olive and proudly served in the British Royal Navy. He apprenticed as a Tool and Die Maker at Fox Steelworks before emigrating to the U.S. in 1951. Jack and Ida met in Colorado, married in California and raised their five girls there until he was transferred to Fenton, Missouri in 1973 with the Chrysler Corporation. Jack was a proud member of the UAW.
Jack is survived by his daughters Marie Hernandez (Rob) of Omaha, NE; Brenda Schofield, Charlene Benning (Tom), Charlotte Govero (Greg) and Diane Distl (Jeff), all in the St Louis area. He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Katie Reid (Keith), Matt Hernandez, Lauren Benning, Jennifer Govero, Nick Govero, and Will Distl. Jack enjoyed life and will be missed by his family and friends.
Jack’s family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living in Chesterfield, the staff at Delmar Gardens in Fenton and at Pathways Hospice for their care and concern. A private service and internment will be held next June in Colorado where Ida is buried. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
