Jennifer C. Meyer

Jennifer Cain Meyer

Jennifer passed away on May 15, 2019. She is survived by her 2 children, Kristen Meyer (32) and David Meyer (25), siblings Nelson (Carol) Cain, Richard (Nikki) Cain, Elizabeth (Kevin) Zenk, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents Marthellen Cain (2014) and James Cain (2011). She was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 2, 1957 and was the 2nd of 4 children. She grew up in multiple places but her family settled in Ladue, Missouri. She graduated from Ladue Horton Watkins High School in 1974 and was well liked by her classmates. She bypassed college and worked as an administrative assistant for most of her adult life. Jennifer had a great love for animals, so much so that she went back to school and graduated in 2003 from Jefferson College with her associates in veterinary science. She graduated in the top 5 of her class and went to work for a handful of years as a veterinary technician. She also had love for great music, great food, and great conversation. Anyone who knew Jennifer would describe her as a funny, charismatic woman with a huge heart. There will not be any services for Jennifer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the St. Louis Zoo. The website and physical address are listed below.

Fer was a good friend when she lived here in Hartford. We worked together and got married one week apart. We celebrated anniversaries for many years with her and David. Our son was “the first kid she liked” she often told me, her little Bryant Gumble. She also was instrumental in our housewarming party when we bought our house in 1983. We have many good memories of her and was saddened to know she had her demons she couldn’t beat and that she left us behind. I hope she is in a more peaceful place and free. We love you Fer. Dear Friends. I was so sad to hear about Jennifer’s passing. I knew her when Peter and I lived in St. Louis many years ago now. She was so welcoming and kind and we had some lovely times together, which I will always remember with fondness; such as meals round the Cain dinner table hearing stories of Walter and the old days with the St. Louis Orchestra! Rest in peace, Jennifer. You were much loved and will be greatly missed. Love to you all. Elizabeth
