Jerry (Uncle Jar) Louis Zehnle
Beloved father, son, brother, friend, (great) uncle, cousin, drummer of the Rogues, past President of the PBM Club and notorious pain the ass, peacefully passed away on Saturday March 9th 2019. He was a talented musician, dancer, party host, bartender, storyteller, mechanic and stock car driver among many other things. He was a soul music, NASCAR, MOB movie and Homer Simpson enthusiast. He had a larger than life presence and was loved by all who were lucky enough to know him. A friend to all who could tolerate him. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered as a man who really knew how to live.

Not sure who wrote the obit, but they knew him well. It describes him to a T. Rest in peace, Jerry, reunited with all who have gone before you, especially your beautiful love of your life, Mary. I am sure heaven will never be the same! To Megan & to Sue, Carrie, and Gary and all who were a part of his care team, God bless and to Jerry, thanks for the memories!
My Sympathies to his family, I knew Jerry at St George, he was in my brother Ron’s class. I was in class with Carolyn his sister. He will be missed.
Please accept my sympathy on Jerry’s passing. He is in peace. As a neighbor for years, I remember sharing many fond times with the Zehnles. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
I am saddened to hear of Jerry’s passing. My sympathies go out to all of the Zehnle family. Jerry replaced me as the drummer for the Apostles when I was drafted in 1968. He was a good drummer. I liked Jerry, and he will be greatly missed by all.

Dear Megan and Family,
We will all miss Jerry. We had a lot of fun working and racing together. I remember the night they decided to tear down the front running cars at Tri-City Speedway. Jerry always called me “Jer” when he was nervous . “Jer, Jer, they aren’t going to find anything in the motor are they Jer?” “You gotta tell me Jer!” They didn’t. Jerry and I had a lot of good visits when he could no longer leave the house. We laughed and I guess we both cried a little too. The last time I visited Jerry he told me that working in the little shop on Hegge was the best job he ever had. Those words meant a lot to me and Janet.
Jerry you were by far and away one of my father’s dearest and truest of friends.
You and your family have been so a part of our family’s lives for now what has been decades.
I want to personally take a moment and say
Thank You Jerry,
Thank you for the Great memories of You and My Dad that I now get to share with Bailey (my Daughter) of you and my dad working together at the Shop on Heege, or of all the Saturday nights spent at a Dirt Track somewhere with that craptastic brown dirt in our mouths and sweat in our hair and my mom not saying a word about it, but maybe had that ever present look of
(you kids ARE going get a bath when you get home whenever that maybe).
Jerry you will be forever missed,
they Definitely broke the mold when they made you that’s for sure, and that is SO A GOOD THING.

I was very sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. Jerry was a lot of fun to be around. We worked together for a while at McLain’s Auto Repair. The obit is certainly the Jerry I remember. To know Jerry was to know you shared a lot of fun with him. My sympathies to all of the Zehnles. love to you all, Rosie

Dear Megan, your father will love reading his obit from his place in heaven. Jerry knew exactly who he was and never apologized for being so uniquely himself.
There was never any doubt about what he thought. His direct and honest opinions were always great for conversation and for laughter. He was so funny. There will never be another like him.
I’m praying for your comfort and peace, and feel sure that Jerry is free from his ailments, already looming large in his piece of heaven. He was so fortunate to have you. He was so proud of you.

Jerry’s mother, Sissie was like an older sister to me, and I always enjoyed being around her family. To you, Sue, Carrie and Gee, Geno and I offer our sympathy, and Megan, Jerry loved you very much and you have many memories to sustain you throughout your life. I’m so sorry he had to leave you at such a young age. We will miss Jerry very much, we had a lot of laughs together, and he is probably enjoying a cocktail of some kind and playing his drums in a place where he is healthy once again. Played with Jerry’s band the Rogues back in the 60’s. I was his bass player. Jerry was the best drummer in Affton. His solo’s were second to non and long. With our ruffled shirts and Temptation dance moves on stage we were a hit at sock hops, battle of the bands and playing at Chuck Berry’s place in St Louis where we won that battle against a Beatles band. Oh to have had cell phones back in
The day then we’d have more memories of you Jerry. RIP my friend. The good lord needed a drummer and got a great one!
