Jerry Talbott
It is with deep sadness that the family of Jerry L. Talbott announces his passing on Monday, June 24, 2019 at the age of 73.
Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Trish; children, Cynthia (Andrew), Doug (Robin); grandchildren, Ryan, Natalie, Hunter, Jack; brother Dale (Charlotte); and numerous other family and friends. Preceded in death his parents, Ray and May Talbott.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, November 1, 1945, Jerry lived his entire life in Oakland, Missouri. As a little boy, one of his favorite things to do was to play catch with his Dad. Throughout his youth, Jerry spent the majority of his free time on the baseball field. His love of the game and hard work paid off. He was offered a contract by the Brooklyn Dodgers. Ultimately, he did not play in the Major League, due to an injury.
Jerry graduated from Kirkwood High School in 1963. After high school, he went to work for Talbott Quevreax Construction Company, and after the company disbanded, he was self-employed.
In 1975 he met the love of his life; Trish. They married in 1976, the bicentennial year, because he said it would be easy to remember their anniversary.
In addition to baseball, Jerry enjoyed gardening, spending time with friends in “the office”, and traveling. Jerry’s travels included visiting every state in the United States and the Virgin Islands. He especially loved taking cruises because he said that he always met such interesting people.
His final days were spent with visits from family and friends that Jerry had known throughout his life. The family would like to thank his caregivers, Josephine, Stacey, Marissa and Stefani for taking such excellent care of him during the last weeks of his life.
Interment will be private.
Trish, thanks for sharing such an interesting personal history here for your good man, Jerry. Elliot and I are so saddened to know of your loss.
Jerry was a great man. I will always remember being friends with his son and spending time at his home. He had a fantastic laugh!
