Joan was 12 years old in 1957 when her family moved from Jackson, Tennessee to St. Louis, Missouri. J.T., her father, followed several other families to the area for better opportunities. She worked in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Certified Medication Technician for over 50 years before retiring. Joan married twice, first marriage to LeDell Ross then Ralph Foster. In earlier days, was well known as a part-time bartender at her uncle’s bar, Person’s Lounge. She was a loving and caring person. Always there to care and assist nieces, nephews, and grandchildren with school and extra-curriculum activities. Joan was a foster parent for many years. She served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Supply Specialist. Even during retirement, she assisted other elderly residents. Joan would drive you anywhere from St Louis City to St Charles, North County to South County without ever getting on the highway. She was a collector of everything and loved Motown music.

The family would like to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness during the last several weeks. Special acknowledgment to the wonderful staff at BJC Hospital, St. Louis, MO for their kind and compassionate care.
